Does this have to be taken with biaxin or zith? I have been having ear problems (tinnitus, fullness, pulsatile tinnitus). I switched from zith. to biaxin a month ago, and it has only gotten worse. For awhile it was just a pulsatile tinnitus, now I have that constant ringing/whistling and it is driving me crazy! It keeps me up and wakes me up all night long.

I am afraid to stay on biaxin now. I am taking bactrim and mepron with it, and have made lots of improvements. Can I take bactrim with something else? I know maybe I could switch from mepron to malarone, but not sure about the bactrim if I don't take zith/biaxin.

It is a hard call. I don't know if the biaxin is making it worse. Can the bactrim cause ear ringing too? What about mepron?

Does anyone know why you have to drink a lot of water while taking bactrim?

Thanks!

Hi Maureen

Mepron Biaxian and Bactrim are a good combo-

I did them and made Much progress --

Bactrim DS made me herx Big time -

The ear ringing is a normal reaction and is to
be expected --

The ringing tone will change and at some point
it will start to go away --

This could take many months for the ringing
to go away completely - this is normal

The only med that I know of that can cause
ear damage are me meds made from Quinine-
To high a dose of quinine can cause perminate
ear damage - so be careful with them --

One thing that helps is to have a TV or radio
ON to help cover the ringing some what -

I also had the ringing big time, but after 2 months of this combo the ringing is going away.
