Has anyone here ever had small lumps on their forehead that come and go?

My mother used to get them often. She would start feeling tightness or pain on her forehead or scalp.

Then one lump would rise up on her forehead or near her scalp. Usually the lump would be about the size of a dime or a quarter, raised. But it would be the same color as the surrounding skin.

They look like lumps. They do not look like hives, or a rash.

It would look like someone tapped my mother's forehead with a hammer and she developed a lump.

Usually, it would go away in a few hours, or overnight. So we never got a doctor to see one of the lumps.

Her primary doctor insisted it was an allergic reaction to something, but the cream she gave my mother didn't help.

The lumps would come out at odd intervals, and in different locations on her forehead.

Has anyone ever had this? and is it related to lyme, or something else?

She gets them less often now. Possibly because she is on a gluten-free diet? Or because she was on blood thinners recently? But the lumps don't come out when she has gluten specifically. So I'm not sure.

Any input appreciated,

Mariela

P.S. Mom hasn't been positively diagnosed with lyme yet, but we're waiting to re-test her Western Blot.

Mariela,

I actually posted a thread with a similar question today!

Yesterday my husband developed a lump on his forehead. It's about 1.5 inches in diameter, and is impinging on his eyelid, though not affecting his vision.

He has gotten lumps of various kind in different places all through this process, but this is a first--the location and the size. His lump is soft and somewhat tender. Like your mom's, it's definitely not hives or a rash.

I have not been able to discern if these skin symptoms result from bart or babs, but those are my two major suspects. Then again, our current LLMD is fond of saying that "borrelia loves the skin," so it may be Lyme.

That's probably not much help. It's just another symptom to describe to your LLMD. If they're intermittent, you may want to take a picture to show the doctor. Mostly, I just wanted you to know your mom was not the only one experiencing this.

Best of luck! And remember, the diagnostic tests can be suggestive, but Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, best made by an experienced LLMD. You're lucky to have some in S.F.!

Hello viva,

Now how did I miss your post?

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has mystery lumps, too.

My mom only gets them on her forehead or scalp, as far as I can tell. But I wonder if your husband and my mom are getting the same thing.

I should have thought to take pictures before. Although I can't imagine mom sitting still for a picture of her lumpy forehead!

I hope your husband feels better soon. The eyelid sounds like a terrible place to have a lump.

Mariela
