I posted the message below in April of 2007, and foolishly didn't keep my reference. I think it I found it on a patent vaccine renewal, though I'm not sure that makes sense. Would ANYONE know anything about the origin of this quote by Rotweiler?
Thanks.....
A quote from Dattwyler
The principal inventor listed on the patent is Dattwyler (IDSA author), and the patent description says this:
"Currently, Lyme Disease is treated with a range of antibiotics, e.g., tetracyclines, penicillin and cephalosporins. However, such treatment is not always successful in clearing the infection. Treatment is often delayed due to improper diagnosis with the deleterious effect that the infection proceeds to a chronic condition, where treatment with antibiotics is often not useful. One of the factors contributing to delayed treatment is the lack of effective diagnostic tools."

Thank you nan for bringing this to the forefront.
Great support and evidence for the persistence factor. However, I do disagree with the "not useful" factor! Sort of like saying, oh we cant eradicate, so just go suffer with your infection.
