My Lyme Multiplex PCR (Serum Sample) test reads: Genomic - B Burgdorferi POSITIVE Plasmid - B Burgdorferi POSITIVE CONFIRMED BY SOUTHERN DOT BLOT
However, my whole blood both reads as negative for both genomic and plasmid...
So, which is it?

From what I understand about the PCR, if it's positive there is NO denying it.
What is the other test you're talking about ... "Whole blood?"

They did a pcr on my blood serum which was positive, AND did a pcr on my whole blood which was negative. Thus my confusion....

zoe, was it IGENEX or which lab came up with this for you?
i don't know difference either, but perhaps you can online to their LAB page, and many do explain the difference. just a suggestion since it's late and we won't have alot of folks this holiday weekend since they'll be traveling to cemetaries! good luck.

Okay I googled it.
Serum usually provides a better culture to get bb from.
So, based on your test results I would recommend getting a LLMD asap.

It means you have Lyme. It means that they couldn't see it in one sample, simply because the bacterium wasn't probably in that particular whole blood sample. The PCR picked it up though because it was present in that particular sample and since PCR is so specific there is no arguing that result, it "was" in that sample.
