My wife has Lyme along with bart and Babesia. We think she has had this for many years (7+)
We have a 6 year old daughter. My wife wants to get her tested to see if she passed it during pregnancy or breast feeding.
My daughter tends to have very bad allergies but does not show any major symptoms.
My daughters doctor does not really want to test her. He states that he doesn't want it on her record.
My wife want to know so we can treat her if necessary before any major problems do come up.
I am curious if people think we should test my daughter. Do we wait for symptoms or should we be more proactive?

I don't have an answer because I'm in the same boat... my husband and I have three children to test. I was only diagnosed this month and my LLMD thinks I've had LD for 20 years, reinfected in 2003.
My doctor said to start getting me treated first and then we can talk about getting the kids tested....
I don't understand why he wouldn't want it on their record.. did he explain? Is he worried that it will come up negative and then insurance wont pay for treatment later down the line if they show symptoms?

He is afraid the having a Lyme diagnosis on her MIB (medical information board) file will have negative impacts on he later on.
I work for an insurance company and having a lyme diagnosis is a warning light for our life insurance underwriters.
I think it is more important to keep her from getting sick in the first place.
