Just trying to understand.
Just realized recently I probably have Lyme and also my daughter.
I don't think any of the above apply except that she got exposed and bit like I did.
She is 24 now, Spinal Menegitis at age 18, mono shortly there after, a lump on her Thyroid and lobe ectomy at age 19.
Loss of family members and extreme stress age 20 and failing health led to Lupis dx, age 22 dx with Fibro- Myalgia.
Tonsillectomy about same time.
Now that I am looking for reasons I am sick - -I realize she probably has Lyme also.
She has nearly ALL symptoms.
Including the rash (EM). I discussed this with her two days ago (first time), she reminded me when I took her to emergency room for what looked like a very bad insect bite and rash.
She was 12 then. We camp/hike all over So. CA and the Sierras. I had forgotten! I can only say it like something I never saw before -drastic.
We were told it was an infected hair folicle on her butt, but no infectious fluid found.
Was hard to believe - but they are doctors. Charged me for non-emergency fee. We don't have Lyme in So.California I have heard soooo many times now.
Waiting for my reg. MD to allow me to get blood withdrawn in her office. I have Igenex test kit now.
Will need to get daughter tested also. Hope and pray she will help me to at least confirm Lyme.

I think the main "cause" of having mulitple family members diagnosed is simply Lyme Awareness.
For instance, had I not tested positive none of my children, nor my husband, would have even been tested.
So one smart LLMD (who happens to be our family MD), plus one tired mommy who was not recovering from pregnancy well = Igenex lyme test.
This then led to 4 other tests and a new awareness of lyme. Since then I've become aware that my parents, in all probability, also have lyme.
