Hello there. I am new here and so glad I found this board! I will give you a little history about myself. I was diagnosed 1.5 years ago with EBV and CFS. I have major sinus issues, terrible sore throat and it always responds to antibiotics. I have fatigue, but I am not tired all day like I want to sleep. I just cannot exert myself physically or I become ill with the sinus/sore throat/fever requiring antibiotics. I've done 19 rounds of antibiotics in the past 1.5 years. I recently started having my hands, feet, knees and nose go numb. I have some major brain fog, too. I have EBV and HHV6. I also have other symptoms, but those are my main ones.

I asked my doctor to run a Lyme test on me a week ago (a few friends mentioned the possibility...) and today she called and said that bands "31 and 44" were positive, but they weren't the usual bands. Can anyone tell me what these bands mean? Do they relate to this constant sore throat/infection?

Before the results came in, I made an appt with a Lyme doctor who takes insurance in CT (a little bit of a trek for me, but she came recommended and is on our plan) because I really felt like this was Lyme, so I am looking forward to seeing her and bringing these results.

Can anyone tell me though in the meantime what these results could mean. I am anxious for that appointment to come up and get in to see her.

Thank you so very much!

Junegal

The explanation is found here:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=042077;p=

Are you sure she didn't mean band 41?? 31 is very Lyme specific.

Does this lyme dr in CT treat CHRONIC LYME??

from the link above, written by Dr C of MO:

"In my clinical experience, if a patient has symptoms suspicious for borreliosis, and has one or more of the following bands, there is a very high probability the patient has borreliosis.

These bands are 18, 22, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 37, 39, 41, 83, and 93.

This is true regardless of whether it is IgG or IgM.. "

Written around 2005:

"The significant antibodies, in my opinion, are the 18, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 39, 58, 66 and 93."

Either way, these two bands are not to be ignored. Read all of the replies to the link above. There is very important information there about band 41.

Thank you for your reply.

I am sorry--I am mistaken. I wrote down that she said "41 and 33" but she said my chart wasn't in front of her at the time. She did say they weren't the usual bands so that would make sense, 41. Do you know what those bands mean?

31-kDa OspA [specific for Bb]

41: Flagella or tail. This is how Borrelia burgdorferi moves around, by moving the flagella. Many bacteria have flagella. This is the most common borreliosis antibody.

Can't find anything about 44.

Disturbedme--Thank you for your reply.

Can you confirm though if those bands are specifically Lyme disease? I'm still confused with all of this. I wish I had my bloodwork in front of me right now to be sure of the exact bands and what they are. I wish I had my Lyme Doctor appointment next week!

31 is specific to lyme, so 31 means lyme.

Read again what I posted above and then click on the link and read that, followed by the info on band 41.

I know it's confusing, but you need to try to read it so you'll be informed!

my lyme became active exactly ike this.I had sweats , neck pain , joint pain -not severe thought but botheresome , and sore thogurh non stop.I was on and off and the throguth sore was there like cronic streptococus.

little I knew than.10 years later I have full blow nurolyme and all coinfections.I was sick worst and worst for 10 years.

Do not delay.Go for IGENEX test no matter what.

And search for coinfections also.
If necesary go for a second opinion and read read read. But please do not delay.I have been on all antibiotics and when they stoped -I crashed compelty .Now I knew it was lyme all along but no body had a clue.
