Some people will have a positive test turn negative later, but it doesn't mean the infection is always gone.
Some will have fewer bands show up, others will have even MORE bands show up later. Ya never know.

Lymetoo has pretty much explained it. There is no test to determine you are lyme free.
How do you feel all the time? Are your symptoms waxing and waning or do you feeling good all the time, lyme treatment is based on symptoms.
There is a rule for us who have had lyme, if we have EVER had Lyme not to donate blood or organs, that should show you how unsure we are we are 'bacteria free'.
My test went from IgG AND IgM positive to just IgM positive, it means very little. It doesn't necessarily mean "new infection" IgM means ACTIVE infection. So clearly your infection is active.
If you are symptomatic, remain on abx until 2 months beyond feeling "well".
It doesn't sound like your Md is completely lyme literate, but I have to give him credit for at least acknowledging the bands that are positive and treating you for lyme.
Seeing a lyme literate Md is important, co-infections must be considered. Have you been tested for all of the co-infections?
A Note for your future: If you choose not to see an LLMD - just remember in the future if you become symptomatic again, a co-infection could have gone untreated or Lyme was never treated aggressively enough in the first place. Don't let any Md tell you Lyme Disease doesn't relapse, or because your test may be negative you don't have lyme, just get to a LLMD if your symptoms return.
