I've been taking chitosan to detoxify for the last few days, and have felt absolutely awful, with dramatic flares in visual and cognitive symptoms. At first I thought it was because I was mobilizing toxins that had previously been dormant in my fat cells, but today I noticed that my oral thrush has cleared as well.

Could it be that I'm experiencing yeast die-off from the chitosan? Or should I be concerned that I'm turning heavy metals loose to wreak havoc on my body?

My NP and I had a discussion about this subject today as a matter of fact. A Dr. in TX did a study with Chitosan in his patients and found that it is a great detoxifying agent because it is made of ground up shells (from what NP said, I haven't researched it yet).

So, in theory, it could be pulling cooties out and making you feel icky........one thing she mentioned though was NOT to take it if you have a shellfish allergy
