I have mastoid and paranasal disease which has to do with the ear pain I've been having...I guess.
Has anyone had these findings? I read that deep, deep ear infections can spread into your brain.
I don't know what to think any more.
My husband now says because I have no lesions I can't order the Igenex test. I feel like crying. Or go see an LLMD. I'm so upset, I can't tell you. I want to rule stuff out.

I am glad to hear that the results are manageable.
I understand you are trying to rule stuff out. That is what I did. My MRI was normal with no lesions either.
That information caused me to order the Igenex test, not prevent it. Have you already been diagnosed with Lyme via Igenex? Have you already treated with lyme?

What??? Your husband needs to do a little researching! Lyme disease doesn't always...or even USUALLY..cause lesions on the brain. All that money for an MRI but it's like $195 for the IgeneX Western Blot. I had one VERY small lesion..the radiologist thought it might just be a venous angioma and nothing to worry about at all. My first neuro didn't even mention it to me because he thought it so insignificant. Yet I am positive for chronic Lyme disease...and almost all of my symptoms are neurological!!! I'm not normally one to go against the hubby..but in this case Id simply have to. This is your HEALTH on the line dear. Possibly even your life. Dawn

Hey I'm a total chronic lymie and I had something amiss with my mastoid on my MRI. Something like -- mastoid is inflammed and mastoiditis can not be ruled out. Now mastoiditis (or whatever the spelling/word is) is cured with antibiotics. I had already been on abx for 3 months when I had the MRI. Well, I think I was ' ' far away from Bells palsy because I had all sorts of funny things happening on the left side of my face. And I think that nerve passes through the mastoid.
So, hmmmm, coincidence? I think not!
I think my lyme inflamed my mastoid! Maybe yours too??????
Get the Igenex test! Best $200 I ever spent! Plus I have a credit card and I'm not afraid to use it

i don't know your age, BUT IF YOU ARE ON MEDICARE, WESTERN BLOT TESTING IS FREE!!
it's now $200; went up in may...
have it done regardless; it you have positives, post them with the numbers going DOWNWARD not across the page, and we'll help you.

you definitely have to get tested for lyme.
believe me, you will waste much more money in the end if you keep on letting it go on like this.
if you do have lyme disease you need to get treated for it.
i had an mri which was completely normal and i have chronic lyme disease.
please go see an llmd and get tested through igenex ASAP!!!!!!!! Your health depends on it, and money means absolutely nothing if you don't have your health.

Really, an MRI says nothing about whether or not you have Lyme. Nothing.

I agree. You still need to be tested. My MRI came back clean as well.
You don't have to have lesions for it to mean lyme, not at all.

Mine came up clean also and yet I have late stage neurolyme and all coinfections .
YEP all of them ....
Do not delay as it is going to cost you more...even your life.No kidding.I postponed it for 6 months and almost cost me my life.

When my neurological symptoms first appeared in the spring of '06, I went to the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. The first physician I saw there promptly dismissed my symptoms as a mental disorder of some kind. Unsatisfied, I saw another physician at the same hospital who ordered an MRI. It revealed a large amount of inflammation in the mastoid process and in the area of the right temporal bone. However, he insisted that this was idiopathic and could not be related to the neurological symptoms I described. I was prescribed a tricyclic anti-depressant and beta-blockers, which were ineffective.
6 months later a blood sample tested positive for Lyme disease at the SUNY Stonybrook labs.
