In July, last year, I was diagnosed with Lyme and Erlichiosis (sp?).

I had a bullseye and a stiff neck to start. doxy 200mg for 21 days they perscribed me.

After finishing that, i felt fine.

Couple months ago I regained symptoms, fatique, severe anxiety, panic attacks, heart palps, diabetic symptoms..you name it, it flared.

I went back to the dr. (my reg. old dr) and he did tests and sure enough my bacteria levels were showing high enough to dx lyme again.

They couldn't tell me if it was a new case or relapse.
doxy 200mg for 21 days again. I just finished that.

Should I expect another relapse? I feel fine. The only symptom I have, which I never had before is wrist and finger pain.

Tingling in my hands when using cold water. What is that?

I hope that I can feel fine until we move to where we are going 1400 miles away.

I am driving from CT to FL in the next few weeks...with 3 kids. YIKES

I think most people here will tell you that 200 mg a day is not enough. When I was on doxy it was 400 mg a day. Might want to check into that.

Something to discuss with your doctor is that you should be symptom free (for a month or two) before stopping treatment. If you're still experiencing joint issues, tingling, etc, not a good sign.

Go back to your doctor to discuss. If you are headed to Florida Doxycycline might not be the best thing (sunburns!).

For me, I switched to 2000mg of amoxicillin/day and that's helping my Lyme and I can be out in the sun.

PM me and I will send you the name of an LLMD in CT I just heard about who sounds very good - given your initial case and possible replapse, probably good to consult a Lyme doctor.

Hi CML:

I too had heart irregularities and similar symptoms as you and was put on 21 days of doxy. I am currently on a second round of Bixaxin XL for 30 days.

When I was on the doxy, I had very weird symtoms from the it on the hands and feet. It was like I had ben gay on both and when I was in the shower or washing dishes the same thing reappeared. I believe it is a side effect from the sun. I was only outside for 1 hour.

Also, I finished my doxy and went boating about 3 days after. I got a horrible rash on both arms. The doctor said that it stays in your system for up to 5 days after you stop it.

Be careful. Or perhaps you can switch to another kind of medicine.

You were not on enough doxy or for long enough. You should post in seeking doctors to find an LLMD (Lyme literate MD) near you .... there are plenty in CT.

I would get more doxy from your doctor to hold you over till then. Since you are still having symptoms, you will most likely get worse again. You do not want to get as bad as many of us. Many here, including me, have been completely disabled by this disease. We eventually get better, but it's a matter of years, not weeks.

YES, unfortunately. It will come sooner or later unless you get more meds ASAP. Sorry.

WE move in two days! to Florida. So if you guys can PM me a good LLMD in FL that would be terrific.

I never thought about the tingling in the hands...but I did experience it after being outside on doxy. That is all I have felt though being on doxy.

I also have more energy. tk goodness. Moving is stressful, so I am sure once I move my stuff will act up again.

I've been on doxy since December. Went boating last weekend. and lathered up with sunscrren. My skin didn't get red, but my arms and hands felt like a bad sunburn. Had to take tepid showers and avoid doing dishes in hot water.

I think I may switch to amoxy.

You need 400mg/day for a lot longer than you were treated

for--you need to get an LLMD ASAP.
