Im not even sure if anyone is familar with any of this, but I got my results from Quest today.

ALl were collected on day 21 of my cycle(which historically is my best week, but this month not so)

TSH, 3rd generation is 3.4 ...it used to be 1.9 or lower

T4 Free 1.2 ref .8-1.8
T3 free 267 ref 230-420

Estradiol 171 ref < or = 247

FSH 3.5 ref 1.5-9.1

LH 14.0 ref .5-16.9

Prolactin 47.1 HIGH ref 3.0-30.0

Progesterone 14.6 ref 3.3-26.0

Testosterone Total 48 Ref range 20.76

And as usual high cortisol

Cortisol AM 27.8 Ref 4.0-22.0

Ferritin 10 Ref range 10-154

PM cortisol, vit D and binding hormones are all pending

Its difficult to figure this all out because this is not a good week for me when it usually is, and my bad week historically is during ovulation.

ANy input would be good, I know the best source is my dr, but thought i would put this out there anyway.

The only result I am familiar with is your TSH. I have been suffering with thyroid disease for 12 years. I know that I feel my best bettween 1-2. That is actually the result for normal function

According to Mary Solomon who has written many books and is an advocate for this disease the refrence range is wrong. Anyone with a range over 2 is at risk for hypothroidism. You can look up her name on the internet. I also have read this before too. Hope you feel better. Teresa

thanks,

im worried because ive been on armour since 06, 15mg, and my TSH was never this high EVER!

A few months ago i went thru a spell where i was constantly starved, which i think is thyroid related somehow, just not sure how.

And now im rail thin, cant gain or hold my weight at all.

Im trying to figure this out on my own as usual.

Im growing frustrated everytime labs are run now something pops up.

the more i read a high TSH i should be packing on the pounds. This is insanity.

Im on my period now and feel like death, but last month felt ok.

any other opinions?

Paraphrasing Sir William Osler: It is more important to know what patient has disease than what disease a patient has. That said, these #s have to be interpreted in the context of you, your age, habits, meds, previous injuries and conditions, diet, previous surgeries, both dental and otherwise...etc., and then, refined testing might be necessary to elucidate things. It would appear that there is some strain on your thyroid that wasn't reflected in previous labs, but that is the most that can be said about the thyroid from those #s.

thanks doctor, much appreciated. I will just wait for the followup appointment i guess.

My diet isnt great becuse I cannot eat many foods due to interstitial cystitis. Most eat High carbs with that disease.

im 32, no surgeries except wisdom teeth way back in 04.

Im just so tired of being sick and not able to live. Dr run tests then you wait months then more are ran, and still sick.

i have babs, bart , lyme.

You didn't list meds... but if there is strain on the thyroid, support its function with a supplement that has iodine, B vitamins, L-tyrosine and selenium, those are the ingredients that the thyroid factory needs to produce thyroid hormone. Also you should try to avoid things that interfere with the thyroid...Fluoride is in many things (including drinking water in many places) and interferes with the thyroid's ability to handle iodide, likewise is true of bromide, which is in most baked goods.

hmmm, the only med change was levaquin, i wonder if that could have done it possibly.

meds ive takend for about two years are
zanaflex
neurontin
armour
valium

was taking leva for about two months

my symptoms never correspond with abnormal test results though, im rail thin.
