is this common?

besides the fever and some light/sound sensitivity, this was my main symptom, and was AWFULLY PAINFUL.

it is still there, after sticking around, but improving for 8 months while i awaited diagnosis and treatment.

it still comes out here and there, sometimes pretty badly.

can your neck get this way from a herx?

i am worried my neck will never recover.

Yes, I have had this for quite some time now. I suspect for me it is the babs causing this symptoms in me... but this is just my gut feeling.

You would be suprised how many times i thought a symptom would be permant because it lasteed so long but then it eventually went away with treatment.

I use moist heat heating pad for my neck/spine.(the kind u put in the microwave) It allows me to sit here and type which i would not be able to do otherwise... so i do feel the heat makes a difference for me.

Do you have babs? I am just curious cause sometimes my eyes get some light sensitivity issues too (which i am suspecting is the babs for me to.. but i do also have lyme so i could be wrong). and i know babs can cause fevers.

A herx can make any symptoms you have worse, give you new symptoms, or make old symptoms reemerge. My spine does usually get worse with herxes along with alot of my other symptoms.

Hang in there [group hug]

I have a stiff and crunchy neck a lot of the time. Not very good range of movement in the neck either. I have always contributed this to babs but who knows, could be lyme as I have both.

Light and sound sensitivity is a big problem for me too. My partner and I used to go to a lot of concerts but I can't bare the thought of one now.

If someone drops a spoon in the next room I jump. Today is a bright sunshiny day and I have trouble looking outside.

I have neck issues too. It really bothers me. I can feel the muscles being so tight all around my neck and shoulders and it is terribly painful.

I need to get in treatment again, right now I am only doing herbals

I have horrible neck issues too. Actually, I had a spontaneous disc herniation after about 8 months of nagging neck pain, the disc didn't improve...had surgery etc.

This happened 1.5 years prior to my Lyme diagnosis. I believe I got infected about 1 year prior to the herniation, leading up to that only had mild symptoms of night sweats, nagging neck pain etc...then my disc blew. Shortly thereafter my symptoms became acute. I think the stress of the herniation allowed the bacteria to go wild.

I believe the infection weakened my neck area and had a major role in my disc problem...guess I'll never know for sure.

I still have neck pain - surgery was just over a year ago...of course, it didn't seem to help my laundry-list of neuro symptoms - then finally got diagnosed with Lyme and 3 co-infections.

I started tx for babs 2 weeks ago...am hoping this will provide relief with my neck. It is very random for me, some days it is SO painful, other times not nearly so bad. After 3.5 years of neck pain...hard to imagine it will ever completely go away, but sure hope it does!

I feel for you, it's horrible and exhausting. I hope it improves for all of us with tx. Good luck.

This is the symptom that causes me the most difficulty. In my case, I can't sit for more than 10 minutes at a time without it getting so stiff that it becomes painful.

I had an MRI, you might want to have that done to make sure you don't have some bone spurs or disc issues.

I've been on meds for Babs for 6 months with no improvement in this symptom, so the doc up'd the dose of mepron to 2 tsp 2x a day.

My LLMD is an osteopathic doctor. she said the fact that it gets worse while sitting sounds like a arthritis type problem, which is likely caused by the Lyme. Babs is notorius for causing neck stiffness, so there you have it.

mine hurts off and on...i did have a ct scan done a few months after the tick bite which showed nothing.

it mostly hurts looking down.

it's more of base of skull rather than C7.

i'm hoping it's not babs but after hearing all of you i wouldn't be surprised.

ugh.
