i read that it is best to avoid the mid afternoon crashes.

then is it ok to take naps during the day if you are tired?

probably a stupid question but i have been avoiding naps because i thought it would be bad and put my body into a bad habit.

Rest is essential to healing. If your body needs a nap, I think you should listen to it.

I took naps for a long time, but not any longer - don't need them anymore.

Give yourself permission to rest.

I listen to my body. It tells me to take a nap every day, so I do. [Big Grin] If I don't, I definitely feel it.

john,

if i didn't have my afternoon/evening naps, i wouldn't survive.

i'm up to 4-5 AM DAILY! in bed till noon-2 pm latest; on here or go to educational health programs.

crash for 1-3 hour naps. then many times before i come on here late PM/EARLY AM; i have a 1-2 hr. nap for energy boosts! [lol]

so i listen to my body; it knows best for me! [Wink]

Hi John,

Yes, I agree with the others.

When we're tired, that's our body's way of saying that we need rest. When we rest, we feed our energy bank account.

Then we have more energy for our body to heal, along with meds.

And we of Lymelandy needs our bestest rest ever. No guilt sleep! We know the effect of rest when we feel less stressed in our brains.
[sleepy] [sleepy] [sleepy] [sleepy]

Dear John,

I have made some of the stupidest mistakes while trying to stay up when my body needed a nap.

Even stupider than the ones I've made while fully awake!!

I take a nap now at least once a day, and manage to sleep well all night also.

Best,

Cass A

I nap everyday, too. I really need it and feel sick if I don't get enough rest and sleep.

My opinion is that ample rest and naps are imperative to our wellbeing. I make it a point to lay down with my eyes closed even on the rare days that I do not feel I need a nap.

This type of resting definitely has a cumulative effect and I feel adverse results when I miss this much needed extra rest. If you are capable of it and if fits in your schedule, do the midday naps for sure.

I know that it helps give the adrenals a restorative break, which is crucial for us who are chronically ill.

If you need to, you need to. Most days I have to, and then some days I get lucky and seem to have enough energy to make it through the day without a nap.

Do what your body tells you. And like others said, sleeping and rest is imperative to our wellbeing. [Smile]

I am on a mandatory nap routine from my doctor. He says from 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon but since I get up around 4 am (sometimes earlier), I'm ready by 1:00.

I find if I nap too late in the day I end up feeling really groggy.

Rest, rest, rest. It's good for you.
