"A novel, two-photon probe for the detection of free Mg2+ ions in living cells and live tissues has been developed.

The probe can be excited by

880 nm laser photons,

emits strong

two-photon excited

fluorescence in response to Mg2+ ions, can be easily loaded into the cell and tissue, shows high photostability, and can measure the Mg2+ ion concentration without interference by Ca2+ ions in living cells.

The intracellular dissociation constant (Kdi) for Mg2+ determined by the two-photon process is 2.5 mM, which is suitable for dynamic Mg2+ concentration measurement. In addition, the probe is capable of imaging endogenous stores of free Mg2+ at a few hundred micrometers depth in live tissues using two-photon microscopy (TPM)."

I thought the 880nM was interesting! ;-)

If mg is high or low, would that essentially say something is wrong with a person's metabolic processing?

Can someone's health be evaluated based on free or lack of free mg?

Can the 880nm stimulate the body to better use free magnesium?

It seems the 880nm is quite a light frequency. [Smile]

Bob...I just figured out my daughters problem and am so excited!

She has a hx. of allergies...major...esp. to mold.

She has a hx. of premature labor too and needed IV Mg to halt it.

She was on the BC pill, Yasmin (Yaz) which causes hyperkalemia - high potassium.

Guess what...

"Magnesium is required for adequate processing
of potassium."

That drove her Mg levels LOWER...up go the inflammatory cytokines and COX-2 -> PGE-2 -> HO-2 kicks in. Instead of HO-1.

The inflammatory cytokines have been doing a "number" on her eyes.

Now...finally, this is falling into place.

Far infrared 880nm delivers 2 photons to ADP -> ATP and ATP will and DOES drive Mg back into the cells...

Which means...IF you are using far infrared, it is likely a good idea if about an hour before you do a treatment, take some Mg and a B complex. Mg works WITH the B vits...esp. B6.

Wow... I did that tonight & I didn't even know this.

What a coincidence. On the Cowden protocol, you take magnesium 2 times a day. I'll have to add the multi-vitamin, too.

I was taking Seasonale BC pill for a while. I'm glad I stopped. I think I gained about 40 pounds while on it... I think that's common for women - not to mention screwing around with your hormones.

i"m excited about Mg as well - in particular Mg shots. I have curtailed some headaches with it.

I've also noticed it has improved my mood.

There is a compounding pharmacy in WA state that has it.

Magnesium is good for pre period headaches too.
