I just developed a lump in my throat area yesterday. It's a little sore when I push on it or look up towards the sky. Do you think this is caused by lyme? Or should I go see my Dr.
Any help would be great!!!

Throat issues are not uncommon. I had dysphagia and choking issues for 6-10 months, it was scary. I opted out on the barium swallow, as I figured out before then it was from Bb and/or the mycoplasma pneumonia...

hey steelbone - I get that too and sometimes lumps in the back of my neck.
They come and go but never had them before I got Lyme.
I get that choking thing as well. Great, never considered the pneumonia question.
It's that kind of a day.

It's fairly common in lyme patients. I got it several years ago and still have it off and on but rarely after the first year of treatment.
My fibromyalgia doctor thought it was related to sicca - dry glands or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD. GERD can cause narrowing of the esophogus due to scarring.
Pharengeal diverticula could also be a cause. A small pouch forms and collects food particles in your throat. Can happen as one ages.
Muscle problems in the esophogus can also cause the lump. Neurological illnesses or damage can cause muscle problems in the esophogus.
Personally I would go to a throat doctor and be checked out just to make sure that a treatable cause is not behind it.

I got a lump in my throat (I was infected but didnt know it) from quitting smoking..
I found others on the net saying this in quit smoking blogs.
But I dont advocate that smoking is worth the trade off. It certianlly didnt rid my lyme smoking a pack a day.

Are you on Doxy?
I have this same issue and Teresambear enlightened me that it can be a side effect of doxycycline. She suggests drinking A LOT of water with the doxy, about 2 cups per pill. She also said to not lie down for an hour after taking it. I am immediately implementing her suggestions in hopes of rapid improvement, because I feel like I'm choking on something and about to die.

Have you gone to an ENT, to be checked for polyps?
They can cause alot of problems in the nose and throat area. Hoarseness, post nasal drip, dryness, breathing issues, & choking, etc.
There may be an infected gland.
My Gp told me I had chronic larengitis {sp}, for abt 10 months.I pushed the issue and went to an ENT, who found a very large polyp on the vocal cord, which he promptly removed.
If it were me, I would go to the dr and get checked out. For peace of mind at least.
