Has anyone tried acupuncture to help with nausea and what were the results?

My daughter--like so many lymies--is always dealing with nausea and we have tried everything. Peppermint oil helps sometimes, but it would be great if acupuncture would work.

Thought I would ask if it is a possible treatment that might work.

I have not used acupuncture specifically for nausea, but I have been using it to treat other symptoms and side effects from medications. It has helped me with optic neuritis and peripheral neuropathy.

Last week, I did have an episode of extreme nausea and vomiting and I saw my acupuncturist a few days later. She explained that in traditional Chinese medicine, my nausea would probably be related to a liver imbalance relating to the toxic effects of my medications (peripheral neuropathy and optic neuritis are also related to the liver in TCM).

With each case, this could be different, but the beauty of TCM is that it does search for an underlying rationale for a symptom.

She treated liver points, as well as other points, and the nausea hasn't returned, but I'm not sure it would have anyway.

My guess is that it could be quite helpful.
