I had post a few weeks ago how I have recently been diagnosed with Lyme through an Igenex Western Blot.
Anyway, my docs first ABX was Clindamycin 900mg's a day. I have been taking it up till now and have tolerated it ok while taking plenty of probiotics.
Overall, the only noticeable change in symptoms is my brain fog has gotten worse. And the herxes I felt would last for an or two and be mostly nausea, feeling hot, extreme exhaustion.
Over the 3 weeks I have been taking it, I would say I have herxed 7 or 8 times. Other than that just feeling a little more exhausted then usual but I am tolerating it well.
So today he added Doxycycline as ABX number two. So now I will be taking 900mg of Clindamycin and 400mg of Doxycycline a day.
Any things I should know right off the bat with starting the Doxy? I am hoping this combo I will start to notice some improvement on, or at least hoping it will lift some of my fog.
He also placed me on Nystatin oral powder to help keep the yeast under control. I was experiencing some rectal itching on and off and I believe yeast is probably the culprit.
I am taking in plenty of probiotics but hopefully the Nystatin powder will really help, has anyone had any experience with this?
Since I have been sick for 3 years now, my doctor felt maybe 6 months in with ABX I would start to notice some improvement does this sound realistic?
Anyway, I am glad to be adding another antibiotic I want to attack this Lyme as strong as possible. And I feel this combo may be a good way to go.
I have been reading lots on here and learning lots, I appreciate everyone who gives input.
Thanks for your help,
- Trevor

I think it sounds realistic just as long as you don't have coinfections. Did you test for those through Igenex? Did you do the Babesia FISH?
If those drugs are what your body needs, you may see improvement in six months or sooner. But, listen to your doc because he could want to treat you longer. Or, if you don't see improvement, he will likely switch you to something else, until you find something where you do see improvement.
A lot of times, if you haven't seen any improvement for maybe 4 months, you'll know it's not right, and can try something else, but for your very first round of drugs, 6 months or more might be more appropriate.
Keep in mind, some, like Bartonella, may come back negative on Igenex once, but then come back positive later. This happened to me. So you might want to retest down the road, especially if you haven't seen improvement in what you're doing.
Sounds like you're on the right track. Hopefully, since you are having these herxes, that is a good sign and you will start to feel better sooner rather than later. Don't be afraid to try something else later though. Best of luck!

Stay out of the sun! Hard to do in Arizona I'm sure but I forgot one day while I was on it, got a terrible burn and have been extremely light sensitivity ever since. Be careful with that.
All the best

I loved doxycycline 200mg twice daily. But your skin will burn even with suncscreen. It may not turn red, but it will burn....
