i can barely walk today as the leg pain is quite severe. it's below the knee and is the muscles in the back of my leg.

i have been on levaquin since the 16th.

i have tried to call my doc repeatedly but his voice mail is full and i cannot get an answer. i've tried for several days.

i am stopping the medicine on my own and will continue the flagyl at twice a day until i see him on the 15th.

i just can't go on with this leg pain anymore.

is there anything they can give you if you can't take levaquin, say like biaxin??

I was taking a 10 day course of cipro, went to work out at the gym and my legs were in the worst shape ever. I could barely walk for days.

I really did not do enough weight lifting to justify the leg pain so I KNOW it was the Cipro that made it worse.

Leg pain is awful.

Can you pulse the Levaquin?

Are you on Levaquin for Bartonella? If so, the only other thing that I know that is also good for Bartonella is Rifampin. I took Rifampin for my Bartonella for four months. Helped me get to 70%, but I am pretty positive it did not get rid of my Bartonella totally as I still have symptoms of it.

yep, it's for the bart. my tests have not come back yet, well at least, i haven't gotten the word yet.

i don't know anything about pulsing, so i think i will just discontinue and see what he says when i go in in july.

hmmm, could i relapse if i stop now and don't take anything for this bart until july 15th?

there has to be something better, just has to be...

there are lots of things helpful for bartonella.

levaquin is the big gun, there are many others tho.

hope your legs feel better soon.

My legs are achey but not that bad. I initially had some tendon pain took 5 days off and then took 1/2 dose (250 mgs). I was able to tolerate the 250 mgs and after about 5 weeks on that upped it to 500 mgs.
I'm making some gradual improvements so I want to stay on for a while longer.

How long can one stay on Levaquin? I see my new LLMD
(Dr. S in MD) in 2 weeks so its a question I'll be asking him. I started in early April and began taking full doses on May 9th.

Randibear,
Well, one thing about having severe leg pain...your husband wouldn't insist on you going on a road trip.

Carol

p.s. Regarding the trip, also tell him that his daughter would probably enjoy seeing her dad more without the step-mom being there.

LOL-- carol, you bad....

but true....

lyme moment -- i forgot to tell ya'll that i'm on 750 mg per day...that seems pretty high compared to what others have been taking...

Rifampin and Minocycline are good treatments for bartonolla and the mino hits the Lyme also.

This is what I took for 2 months. Feeling better but not well, maybe 70%

Randi,

Your LLMD just had knee replacement and is in the hospital, recovering.

I have sent you his direct contact info, should your discomfort get to the point that you need to speak with him directly.

I assume you are after Bart. My LLMD believes the macrolide kill Bart and I have found in my studies at pubmed for this to be absolutely true over and over there abstracts that prove it.

Rifampin/Septra or Rifampin/Doxy, Biaxin or Zith/Rifampin...all bart killers.

It is wise to stop Levaquin with what sounds like "tendon" pain - tendons can rupture from Levaquin and other quinolones.

There are other safer choices.

just wanted to clarify about this fabulous doctor.

he's so busy his phone message is full and i couldn't leave a message and i'm so brain dead i couldn't figure out how. it just said to return the call. i kept getting a recording and it said something about a cell phone and i was too stupid to understand.

this is NOT the doctor's fault. it's mine, so please don't think he is uncaring, cause he ain't.

he's a godsend and he's very very busy....

again, this is not the doctor's fault. it's mine.

his office is probably just swamped right now and i'm calling at crazy times.

not his fault, again, new doctor and i have to figure out his system.

i wouldn't trade him for a new puppy....well maybe a chocolate lab...
