This is a vent post.

I am out in Colorado
for the month of July thinking
that it would be a nice change
from the crazyness of the East coast
and the mold that kicks up in my house
when the parents AC kicks on.

Well my first 4 nights here were horrible!
My brother has a plush sealy mattress
that feels good at first but

I wake up with terrible neck stiffness and pain
my back is stiff and killing me
and I feel as if I got 2 hours of sleep!

And Im taking all these drugs too! What good are they.

I took out the air mattress, I slept about %10 better.

Then I started obsessing about the mattress and wanting to get a new one.

I went through this about 8 years ago when I went to Bobs discount to get a mattress.

The first one was too hard,

The only other one they had was a pillow top.

I slept HORRIBLE. I had the same kinda pains.

My brother says that he can sleep on anything!
Gosh Darnit*********** AHH.

However I did sleep well up in the mountains for the 4th. I slept in the basement on a firm mattress.

IT WAS LIKE HEAVEN> We stayed with his freind for the 4th.

I slept on his fathers mattress. Then when I asked him what kind it was,
he told me that it was from Florida and almost 20 years old!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats the deal with this fibro and lyme that it turs us into a fragile EGG!!!!!!!!!

I am so jealous of people that can sleep on almost anything, couch, soft, hard.

I pumped up the air mattress last night and I slept too much,,, woke up at 11:00 Am.

I slept a little more but I am still achey with back pain and shoulder pain.

I just feel so damned. What did I ever do to deserve this!!!!

I bet most of you feel the same way. [Mad]

It seems that the stars have to be aligned perfectlly for me to get a good nights sleep.

The air has to be right,
The bed has to be right
The room, the temperature.

No late coffee.

YOU HAVE TO BE RICH TO BE SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [cussing]

This is EXACTLY me. I am going to let my husband read this when he gets home, because he has to go through this bed drama with me.

On our old bed, I would keep trying all these different toppers, feather things, memory foam, etc. Then, I figured out I sleep much better on a firm bed. So we sucked it up and bought one that I liked.

Then, my parents had to buy the exact same one, because they knew it was the only way I would come visit them and be able to sleep there.

I agree, you do have to be rich to afford these sleep problems.

And, in our bedroom, we had to get blackout curtains. It can't be too cold, or else I can't sleep. Has to be the perfect temperature.

And, here is the worst thing: lately, I can't even have my husband in the bed with me!!! I can't sleep when he is in it. It is something about not being able to change positions frequently. It is harder to change positions when you can't juts roll one way (when he's blocking me from rolling).

So poor husband has been sleeping on couch! Last night I actually cried when I kicked him out because I felt so bad, but I wouldn't have slept a single second with him there!

I don't necessarily feel bad the next morning, in terms of aches and pains, but during the night, my limbs have to move, so I need room.

Also, I can't do coffee late in the day. I get so jealous when I see people drinking it any time they want! Or even green tea.

And, I can relate with you on the older beds....I always tend to like the "no frills" ones at cheapy hotels without the pillowtop. I would always say, "where can I buy these things!"

Just wanted to let you know someone can relate to what you are going through! I know, it is a huge pain, but just think, someday we will be through all of this. It can't get worse than it is now.

Even if I become just a "slightly picky" sleeper, I will be glad....that would be an improvement! Best of luck.

I knew someone would relate. This being the nutso sensitive disease.

It just sucks that it has to be this way.

I know others that will have a couple beers and get knocked out.

If only it were that easy anymore.

Havent been able to drink since 2002

Im gonna place a new wanted add.

Looking for a used firm mattress, not to old but not to new.......

I would have to buy 3 just to make sure.

I've been considering a Sleep Number bed for the reasons you were describing.

I actually bought a new mattress 4 years ago because I thought that was the reason I was sleeping poorly and waking up sore. This was before I knew I relapsed with Lyme.

Right now, I am on Flexeril 40mg and Neurontin 400mg at night to help me sleep. The Flexeril helps me wake up less sore, which is a huge help. And, I am no longer waking up 5-20 times a night. It's down to 2 or 3 most nights, unless I'm herxing.

But, I still consider the sleep number bed simply because firmness is adjustable. So, if I'm in need of a firmer bed, I just pump it up.

Its difficult to determine exactlly whats preventing us from deep sleeping.

But I must say that the Lyme makes us much more fragile.

Sleep Number Bed = WORTH EVERY STINKIN PENNY!!

And of course FLEXERIL (50mg)

Sorry you're suffering. I would think the air mattress would give you relief. Perhaps it's the pillows??? and not just the bed that's giving you issues???

Sleep Number also sells Pillows that are out of this world (and so is the price, but again, worth the splurge).

Glad to hear that its working out for you.

It does help to have something adjustable thats able to support us or cushion us on bad days.

I just know that when I was young I really never had this problem. But then again when we were young we really had no problems.

We just didnt know!
