Does this mean I don't have Lyme or do I need something stronger to herx...and I'm sure what it would even feel like, but I do know, from listening to you guys that I'll know it when I feel it.
Since most of my pain is neurological pain, maybe doxy isn't the right medicine for me? I'm on my 2nd round.

What dose?
Posted by Nessa1815 (Member # 15697) on :
I just started 200mg 2x daily...like 2 days ago.
Is there something else wrong with me? I'm getting scared.

200mg is generally regarded as bacteriostatic not bactericidal. It should keep it from progressing, but not kill it off.
I was on that until we got my co-infection tests back, then treated Babesiosis and again on that dose for one month before upping the dose to 300mg/day.
That was sufficient to produce a herx for me as I'm only around 120lbs. People weighing more than that may need 400mg/day.
After 3 months, the Herxing stopped & I started going backwards because co-infections started coming to the forefront, when the Lyme came down.
It is important that you identify & Tx coinfections if you are not responding to adequate Tx. In my non-professional, non-medical opinion, 200mg/day is not adequate.
I think you need an LLMD. Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Ali...She's taking 400mg per day.
Nessa... Too soon to tell anything since it's only been two days.
Some people never herx.... Posted by Trevor1 (Member # 15489) on :
Hi Nessa,
I am on Doxy 400mg a day also, it didn't really hit me until about a week in, then it was quite noticeable, since then i've been going up and down. Mine is mostly neurological as well.

I am 120lbs on the dot. And yes, I am taking a total of 400mg a day, but today is actually only the 3rd day.
200mg in the AM and then 200mg in the afternooish/evening.
I feel like I'm doing it wrong, or the doxy is the wrong thing for me to be on, or maybe I don't have Lyme at all, even though Labcorp says I am positive.
I don't get it?

I herxed on amoxicillin and azithromycin and couldn't take it. However, I loved Doxycycline and it helped my brain fog in a little over a week. I could really tell the difference. I don't remember herxing much on doxy. Doxy 200 Mg BID was the best dose, but it only took my so far after 6 months. Beware of the sun. Your skin will burn underneath the skin.

Starting my 3d month of abx, and have never herxed.
First I was on doxy 200mg a day, then biaxin 1,000 mg a day, now Zithromax, 500 mg a day.
Still no herxing, and don't believe I ever will.
Maybe thats a good thing! Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Does not herxing mean you don't have Lyme? When you have any other infection and you take antibiotics, you don't herx....from my exp. anyway.
