Did anyone hear about this? Last week a passenger found a tick on the plane, and the whole plane was emptied because of it. They actually found 2 more. All those people were delayed several hours and put on a different plane.

This news flash came out again today, on the internet, with more details on what/who/when/why.
Not the why, actually. My first thought on reading this (especially when the news article emphasized "we don't know HOW there could be ticks on the plane) was, yeah, right.
All you have to do is wonder how many people bring on their pets in those little air carrier bags, the ones that fit under the plane seat? You can bring on board all manner of pets this way. Dogs, cats, etc.
I would think all it would take is ONE little doggie who doesn't have Frontline on, that has been romping in the woods of wherever the owner lives, and stick that pet carrier under a seat for a few hours (or no hours, if the ticks are ready to hop off and start crawling around) and wa-la! Instant tick circus!
Wonder how many people think about this?
I know I do, and think about it in context to other areas where you might run into something similar---hotels/motels that allow pets in the room? Restaurants that allow dogs? (outdoor patios?). You name it, the potential is there, just waiting for another "news flash" type bulletin!

We were just in the Denver airport last week. Somebody was walking their poodle (not even the small kind) in the terminal area where we are waiting to board our plane. When we got on our flight to go home, the guy sitting in front of me had a collie that he said was a service animal and it wasn't in any kind of carrier and sat at his feet. So, I can TOTALLY see how this could happen.

I wonder if those cute drug sniffing beagles at the airport are spreading ticks?
Motels and hotels that allow pets often have flea problems so I would imagine they have ticks as well. They certainly have bedbugs even some of the nicer ones and I know someone who thinks they received Morgellons from bedbugs.
