i have stopped the levaquin and am now suffering from a major headache. the leg pain is lessening and taking hot baths helps greatly.

so if this is what it's like to stop, i really think continuing with meds, whatever you're on, is the way to go..

stopping and starting is the pits and i think it casues more problems, right?

so what signals does your body send to tell you to stop and take a break? everyone's different, right? but there has to be some point you want to stop.

geez, what am i trying to say?

i hope this makes sense, cause it doesn't to me....LOL

must be this awful headache....

I'd make sure that isn't tendon problems you're getting with the Levaquin...

But it depends on the person how far they go before taking a break. Most people don't take a break especially if they can handle the herxes and just get through it. Some people can't handle the herxing and either stop the medication for a short while or just take half, etc.

It really depends on the person, but before doing either, you should speak with your LLMD about what he would have you do.

I understand! I have to take short breaks and then when I start to feel better, I start up agian. For me, I get really major pressure in my head, not a headache. It is so intense that I cannot think or barely talk. This is when I stop until the pressure goes away and then I start again. I do not know if this is messing up my treatment, but it is the only way that I can function enough to hold down a job.

I use to believe in the "once you herx, back off" method but after 1.5 years of doing that and getting no better I am now a fan of the "no pain, no gain" and it seems to be working better.

forgive me, i guess i'm just getting discouraged...

i don't do well with pain and get really crabby....

no wonder people contemplate suicide with this disease...

Unless the effect is incredibly serious, my practice tends to abide by the "work through it" philosophy. I've never stopped a personal treatment in mid use, but then again I don't herx noticeably in the present, so to speak. Rather, I look back a month or more in the future and reflect "Oh, I'm feeeling better then I was three weeks ago, maybe it was a herx" or some such.
