Ok....2 years ago I went through this pre dx and now again this summer and it is accompanied by major flare or herx, not sure which

This was literally one of the first symptoms I noticed, even before I had my "crash."
Usually I believe B.O. is associated with yeast.
I have had it badly recently too. Though not as bad now that I am on my Mepron. Who knows what that means!
I found one thing that helped was actually NOT using deodorant, because I feel it would get on my deodorant and then everyday I would just add to the smell.
I instead use a natural baby powder that I rub on my underarms that is infused with tea tree oil.

PPPPPPPP UUUUUUUUUU Yes, Me. I was herxing big time on IV Rocephin and stunk to the high heavens!
It was also a very peculiar odor, not my normal post work-out odor, which is very mild. This stuff was nasty!
I was showering and washing 3-4 times a day and right back it came.
When the awful herx let up so did the stink.
Feelfit feels for you!

I have periods of time lasting from a week to a month when it is awful.
The worst part about it is there's nothing you can do about it yet people automatically assume its because you have poor hygeine.
I tried everything under the sun in terms of prescriptions and remedies.
When it gets bad I usually bathe 3-4 times a day and switch deodorant (both brand and actual stick) a few times a week.
If excessive sweating is the problem you can try drysol, but I get allergic reactions to it.
What I found however, is that it eventually goes away on its own.

Good answer Marnie, Bb and toxins make you stink stronger and somehow different from normal body odor. The PABA in the B vits they mention worries me though as I have a book that says PABA DECREASES effectiveness of abx.
I bought some B vits with PABA in, darn't take them now, as I read this in my book after buying them.!!!?

Does it smell like a skunk died under your arm pit?
I've always had this problem and it's worse when I'm herxing/detoxing.
It's gotten waaaaaaaaay better with treatment.
I used to remember smelling reeeeeaally bad after going to the beach...skunk pits.
Attractive. It was another really great boost to my self-esteem!
I find the deoderant Degree is the best for wetness and smell. Posted by kam (Member # 3410) on :
I noticed that smell too.
My LLMD did too as at one of the visits a while back he said something to the affect...you don't stick anymore...this is good.
Not exactly how he put it, but that is how I recall it.
He was much more professional.
We had not talked about the smell until that time.

Degree is good stuff, (even though it contains aluminum!!!) but now I just drink liquid chlorophyll daily.
No body odor of any kind. Love it!

i get this, too. also, lots and lots of armpit sweating, clear through my shirts. so embarrassing. and i reeeeally don't want to use antiperspirant because of the aluminum factor, but nothing else works. sigh.

i thought it was just me!!!!
my main problem seems to be my breath tho!!!! nothing seems to help that.

My daughter wears paper towels under her arms and holds onto a towel all day long.
When she started Mepron the first time, her entire body excreted an odor so bad we had to throw shoes and some clothing away. NOTHING could get it out.
Sometimes after her infrared sauna session, I can smell that particular odor.
One of my favorite quotes came from GROOVY2. He said, "I smell like a homeless person and his three damp dogs"

Randibear: I'm almost positive bad breath is a candida issue. I had that in college b4 I knew anything about candida, Lyme and HELL.

I find wearing clothes (especially tops) that are 100% cotton is the only way I can wear clothes anymore.
Synthetic clothes increase this problem tremendously.
LLBean and Lands' End have great cotton shirts.

Thank god im having a bad Herx and my nose is not working very well!
Joking aside, I have noticed both the BO and breath tend to get a little stinky on Abx.

Me too. I never used to stink and sweat this bad under my arms before I got sick. I have very good hygiene too. But, it doesn't make a difference.

Detox is necessary, as well as treatment for the culprit, which is sometimes multiple factors. Lyme patients tend to have it, with or without Yeast (Based on stool sampling).
So, ALA, NAC, Glycine, you're good old friend fresh water and exercise, as well as some other routes are all useful.

I read in a magazine that ABX can make the urine smell " wiffie" sort of ammonia like. Dictionary says AMMONIA ( Pungent Smell )
CAN'T WIN can we !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been sick for 14 yrs and never had any odor or any kind. When I started getting more frequent and intense symptoms 18 months ago, I notice my underarms smelled like chicken soup.
This came and went, but I only noticed the smell when I would feel unwell. On days I felt strong, I never had an odor.
In my case, my odor was not related to meds or herxing but I believe the odor is a build of of toxins. When I smell chicken soup, I know it's time to kick up some detoxing

Here's another contributing possibility: a diseased and/or clogged liver. The waste products literally "back up" into your blood and lymph system -- where they are dumped into other parts of your system. Also, does your left armpit smell more than the right? If it does, look at an anatomy chart to see where the lymphatic ducts are -- the thoracic duct is on your left side. Think "exhaust pipe!"
After I did a few liver cleanses, which yielded colorful, giant stones -- I've been more normalized in terms of the particular scents (and level) of body odor. But that's just me, I am not saying this applies to other folks.
