since stopping abx in march and moving to samento and other supplements only, i have noticed a worsening of my hormone related symptoms.

1. facial acne is back
2. when i dont have my period i am pmsing. crampy, migraines, bad stomach.
3. i can feel my endometriosis coming back (pain during bowel movements)

my llmd said that hormones are not his area of expertise and that i should see a dr specializing in natural horomone replacement.

has anyone tried supplements for correct horomone balance on their own? btw, i'm allergic to soy!

Also, what kinds of tests are the most accurate and helpful? I just think a lot of drs don't do the right tests...

Would irregualrities in other systems (adrenal and thyroid) cause problems with hormones?

thanks for advice

Yes, I had endometriosis and adhesions in my mid to late 30's and was thrown into menopause at 41 because of Lyme.

You might want to have your plasma metanephrines checked to rule out a pheochromocytoma and investigate electromagnetic hypersensitivities. I believe my hormonal issues are related more to the wireless boom and adrenal dysfunction, more so than to Lyme.

tailz, have you noticed improvement from adrenal treatments?

I'm male but yes. Many hormones are interdependent.

For instance, taking too much thyroid meds can stress your adrenals, especially if you have adrenal fatigue. Lower adrenal output can then undercut important reproductive hormones.

So, yes, it's very important that hormones be balanced properly but this is easier said than done with Lyme, which seems to produce a down-regulated endocrine system.

lymeorsomething,

thats interesting about the thyroid and adrenal connection. a couple of days ago i took an iodine supplement for the first time. i read this is supposed to help the thyroid. I am on thyroid medication, so maybe i need to come down on it...

i'm confused about what kind of dr i should see... is it endocrinologist, gynecologist? but the challenge always is, finding one that believes i have lyme without a positive test and is willing to try more natural approaches as opposed to drugs.

how have others addressed hormone issues?

Tailz, I am 36 and think that Lyme is pushing me into menopause. My cycles are actually regular (on time), but I have tons of symptoms:

hot flashes
major night sweats (despite use of malarone)
PMS (never have had it so bad)
weight gain
water retention
really light or really heavy cycles

Could this be menopause? I have started progesterone cream, but this has increased water retention and weight gain.

I am already on thyriod med.

Is there any research regarding menopause and Lyme?

Thank you!
