hi my wife's pretty much been in remission for a few months now. Stopped all abx around the start of this year.
she went to see her regular doctor for a possible UTI this morning and was prescribed 5 days of levaquin (1 pill each day for 5 days).
Is she playing with fire by doing this? Will it trigger relapse? She just took her first pill.

She did about 6 months of abx last year. She was diagnosed relatively soon after feeling sick, about 3 months.
The abx wasn't making her feel any better. So she stopped abx early January we found a ND specializing in Lyme. She's been on herbs since Jan, after waxing and waning, all her symptoms pretty much went away about 3 months ago. She'll still be on herbs full dose for another 9 months or so to really be sure.

Hi,
She probley already knows this, but Levaquin should be taken on an empty stomach.
Nothing 2 hours before or after taking it.
It can bind itself to other things, even caffine and will be less effective.
Good luck.

Well--she should be educated about
the potential risks of the drug, just in case she
does experience any Lyme-like sx subsequent to taking it

5 days isn't that long a course, though...so she may very well be fine
