My LLMD wants me to start taking Ceclor. I react so strongly to everything I try to take that he is moving me to something he said wouldn't work as well, but that I might be able to tolerate better. (Less herx reaction)

I know that it is a cephalosporin like Rocephin, which I took for a short time at very low doses and seemed to help me. I don't understand what it means to be a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation cephalosporin, though.

Can anyone explain that to me? What does that mean for the relationship between the two drugs?

Thanks.
