I was reading Nessa's post, and viruses are also something I have been concerned about. Does anyone have any advice on things I could be taking now to help control these nasty little things?
I know I have also, like many, tested positive for a lot of them. (CPN is a bacteria though....i realize that, i am more wondering about the viruses like EBV and HHV-6, etc).
I have Oil of Oregano here at home....anyone use that? I have taken Olive Leaf Extract but found no relief with it.
I am thinking eventually I will start some homeopathics for some of these, but in general are there other things I can do to subdue these viruses?
Thanks!

You can take valtrex, I was on acyclovir for a while and it didn't help either way. I take Transfer Factor Multi Immune by Researched Nutritionals. They also have one for lyme. Also, to increase NK Cell count and fight off viruses maitake mushroom and cordeyceps mushroom are good.

I don't know if it's a cure but coconut oil is supposed to be helpful - particularly an ingredient called monolaurin...
I posted a long post about it on a thread for coconut oil or monolaurin, lauracidin (?) one of those...
Some people use it for HIV.

I heard that Elderberry juice is a great anti-viral.

I've heard some LLMD's, including Dr. D in MA and Dr. F in LA recommend Valcyte.

Hoosiers,
Did you get TBD's in Indiana?
What is your diagnosis?

This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, holds many answers and suggestions:

I got bit in Florida back when I was a child, but aside from a few problems was mostly healthy. I did have fevers and migraines that year from the bites, but eventually those faded and I had a normal childhood.
I became seriously ill later in life, and it happened suddenly, so it was suggested that EBV (a mono infection) perhaps brought out the Lyme.
I have been diagnosed with Lyme, Bartonella, and Babesia, all tested positive on Igenex.
I have also tested positive for CPN, EBV, HHV-6, I believe Mycoplasma......lots of those sorts of bugs.
I figured viruses are probably important to take care of, especially since it seems that they are what reactivated this whole illness for me from childhood. (unless I just got bit by a tick right before I got sick and never saw it).

Dear Hoosiers, I take Sambucol. It is elderberry extract. I always went into Bronchitis if I caught I cold, and after I began taking this upon the onset of one, I got over one in less than a week! I was amazed. This supplement boosts your immunity between 150 to 300 percent. Someone already mentioned elderberry juice on here, but elderberries are not always in season or affordable.
Sincerely, Jen

Hoosiers, I did not know about your mono episode. I find that interesting as my health declined quickly after mono as well.
Some of the older literature about Lyme makes the connection to mono. It's tough to say what comes first. Does mono allow Bb to get a foldhold or did Lyme ultimately weaken the immune system until the viral load could no longer be held back.
I had many suspicious symptoms before mono as well and I've also had two known embedded ticks. I even had tick exposure when I was in Europe on vacation many years ago....

Hi Hoosiers,
Why don't you try taking some Lauricidin?
It's anti- bacterial, fungal, and viral.
It's one of the top three supplements my LLMD recommends.
If you do decide to try taking it, just be sure you start with a low dose and slowly work your way up to a full dose.
You'll find more information about it at www.lauricidin.com, where you can purchase it also.
I'm not affiliated with the company, who sells it, in any way, so if you decide to purchase it from them, there's nothing in it for me.
Love, Light, & Health, Jennie

I take oil o oregano and olive leaf extract. How long did you take the Oilve lEaf extract and at which dose?
Posted by Hoosiers51 (Member # 15759) on :
I don't remember how much Olive Leaf Extract I took, because it was a looooong time ago.

Like any good herb, it takes time to build it up in the system.
Olive Leaf Extract is amazing for boosting the immune system. I would give it another shot
Oil of Oregano is also very powerful.

I recommend Lomatium. I posted an article about Lomatium recently.
It is a powerful anti-herpetic, for me. It stops a herpes lip blister cold. Actually the first time it stopped it after one dose, the next time stopped it after two doses, the next time stopped it after three doses.
I read an anecdotal account of a girl who cured herself of lyme using lomatium.
I'm hoping it will work against future bird flu! The article i posted says it protected the Washoe indian tribe from the 1918 pandemic flu.
---pamois.
I've read that Olive Leaf Extract should not be taken with antibiotics because it may weaken the antibiotic effectiveness; i don't know how . I don't know if that means not to take them together in the same dose, or not to take them concurrently in the same days.

Three things that have proven benefits :
Olive leaf extract , goldenseal, and grapefruit seed extract ( like nutricidal ) esp in a liquid extract .
Also , drink powdered vit C ( some is without acid ) in water or juice throughout the day . This is an immune stimulant and also pathogen killer .
Phytonutrients like larix powder are immune system activators ( also mannatech ambrotose ) .
