I am very interested in hearing about peoples' experiences with children manifesting what looks like Tourretts when in fact it is Lyme.
My almost 5 year-old's tics started a year ago and we live in the second-highest reporting county for Lyme in the country. When the joint pains started this summer, we went to see a Lyme Dr. who diagnosed the whole family w/Lyme due to a strawberry type rash on the back of our necks/scalps. He drew blood from me as well (dd wasn't cooperative).
We are on 50mg. Diflucan, daughter is on 25 mg. Diflucan. Not sure what will happen after our 6 week follow up.
Any info will be much appreciated!

When my son was around 8 or 9 he began having tics...eye rolling and blinking. Hair twirling, made "favorite or repetitive words he made up...and head shaking. Teachers were concerned. I brought him to the doctor and he said don't worry he will stop when he starts liking girls. Of course he was controlling it in the doc's office so the doctor didn't see any of it.
He also did have hip aches, complained of his hair hurting and his teeth...etc. At the time I thought I had chronic fatigue syndrome....so I thought that that was what he had. I knew it was fruitless to try and get help for it. Good news tho...he did grow out of much of it. He is now 28, very smart and is a supervisor/principal at a school for the mentally challenged. The school helps kids to mainstream into society after they graduate from high school. He still has one nervous habit but that he can control.
