I know they do hang out in sea grass but do they walk across hot sand?

I thought I saw tiny orange nymph walking down a sand dune where I was sitting yesterday.

Is no where safe?

Not sure about the beach, but saw one walking across the concrete at the neighborhood pool the other day. Where did he think he was going? At least twenty feet from any foliage of any kind.

I have been wishing for a home with a large concrete slab patio so I can feel safe sitting outside but after reading your post I think I should start wishing for a glass or plastic bubble suit instead.

I would really like to be able to sit some where outside in the sun and feel safe.

There have been cases in my area of people getting lyme at the beach. The ticks can be dropped by birds or animals.
My husband once found a tick crawling on his computer keyboard in his office.

There were some rather aggressive gulls hanging around. I wonder if birds get Lyme disease I know they can carry Lyme ticks.

I use to think the beach was a safe place to lay in the sun. I guess not. I thought ticks did not like hot sand but I guess that was all wishful thinking.

I have the feeling the tick might have just walked down from the sea grass. I have the feeling they can walk pretty far or at least further then I once thought.

If they wore muzzles instead of thongs I think I would feel much safer.

4 what? Size 4 in tick wear? I think after a good meal they might balloon up to a 12 or even a size 14.

The people who moved in on my once private sand dune seemed more concerned with shucking oysters and talking about beer brands. I wish I was still naive enough to enjoy a picnic at the beach.

Oh I just cringed when I read the topic line (wish I had the will power NOT to read further!)

Laying on the beach close to the water & far from the grassy dunes- my ideal stress relief!

Must admit on a trip to NH last summer the thought of ticks hitching a ride on gulls did cross my mind -right around the time some idiotic girl decided to toss her french fries to them right near my blanket!

Recently read that the beach patrol horses there were out of commission. Probably lymed. But they regularly traipse through the grasses!

I will not ever sit on the grass again, but won't give up lying on the beach when I can get there.

Insert a graemlin who covers their ears here

I would say YES!

I think charlie means 4 because they have 8 legs.

One thong only on the bottom two legs would be sufficient.

I don't care if they are naked or wearing swimming attire. I just don't want to share the beach with them. I prefer the yuppie oyster shuckers if I have to share.
