hi-

i literally just got home-- i went just for the day and took the 1AM-6:00AM train back home.

The post-film event was lovely.

Birthday cake and a a special gift of a lyme child's art for Dr. Jones, flowers for each of his incredible staff, talks by Elliott Pollack (his atty); Pam Weintraub; Elise, one of the women in Under Our Skin, from the film..

about 150 folks or so? I would guess, and nope, Heiwa, the 7th isn't his actual birthday..

I'll post more later, but need to return home mentally...

dills

I went to the screening last night also. Having just been diagnosed a month ago, it was both frightening and comforting to see so many people there. The film was fantastic, the educational literature was wonderful, and the tribute was lovely. I got Pam's book while I was there and I have already read several chapters. I am so glad I went.

The movie and the event were very nice. I just wish the DVDs were on sale there as well...

am realizing, rather belatedly for sure, that 5 hours sleep spread thinly over 2 nights

is not conducive to working with photo files or web pages or even my manual can-opener.

am trying to get pics up from last night, and i will...

About the children's artwork portion of the night.

Enough of you fine folks donated artwork that collectively we had over 20 pieces to sell.

The event's organizers bought one drawing to give to Dr. Jones for his birthday present. What a difficult choice to make, as ALL of the art and photography was unique and amazing!

The "before and after" drawings by Catskillmama's very young daughter, ultimately best presented the wonder of Dr. Jones, and so succinctly..

the so sad "before" face drawn with a few lines, the after drawing, created and dated TWO WEEKS into treatment, of 2 happy girls holding hands, standing in the grass.

Dr. Jones loved it, Catskillmomma! Thank you so much!

For the art that was actually on sale we suggested a donation of $20 for "large" size and $10 for the smaller pieces.

All in all I think about 1/2 of the artwork was sold. So, with less than a week's advance notice the efforts of parents here and their Lymed kids raised over $200 for Dr. Jones!! Wow

[bow] [bow] [woohoo] [woohoo] [woohoo]

I'm very sure more could and would have been sold if the audience that night hadn't consisted so largely of flat-broke Lymies (is there any other kind of us?)

Since 100% of the proceeds of everything sold went directly to Dr. Jones' legal defense fund (with the exception of Weintraub's book- 50% of each book sold had to go to publisher), lots of folks seemed to opt for her book or for the "I love DR. J" t-shirts also for sale.

If there are no objections, i'd like to hold onto what was unsold to use for the next kids' art for dr. j sale.

Last, I created a photo album of the night and am trying to post it on shutterfly.

i think here..(?)

share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=1AbuWrFo3ZMnLA

or, i'll be happy to send the album as a zipped or pdf file to anyone who is interested. shutterfly seems to have un-rotated a number of the images.

[email protected]

i seriously doubt the file can be sent in a PM.. it is gargantuan...

big hugs and big thanks to everyone who donated and who wanted to but didn't have enough time!!!

Dilly, I am so glad my daughter's art could stand as an example of how bad lyme and the coinfections can be for a child and what a wonderful doctor Dr. Jones is!!!!

I wish I knew a way to post that picture to lymenet. Can anyone help me. When I go to post an image, it asks for a url, and the pic is an on my computer, not on the internet.

thanks for the photos, dilly! wish i could've been there.

catskillmama, you need to upload your photo to a photo hosting site like flickr.com or photobucket.com .

then i think you can copy and paste the URL here. hope that helps. [Smile]

I had planned on taking photos of all pieces before they were sold, but ran out of time.

The art here is what i brought home. Actually, more than 1/2 was sold.... even bigger yay.
