I've just started doxy again, and had forgotten the nausea that it brings with it.

I'm going to be adding Rifampin in a few days, and staying on this combo for a while to hit bart. I've never tolerated doxy well, but will do anything to get rid of bart.

Any tips for lessening the doxy-induced nausea?

Thanks.

-Don't take it right before bed and don't lay down
-eat food with it. Some people seem to do better with it if they have a lot of water (that didn't work for me!)
-ginger tea, really strong, or ginger capsules, taken some time before the doxy, helped me. I think I used ginger 20 minutes prior to doxy if I recall right.
-over-the-counter nausea meds sometimes stop the nausea when it starts. I don't know anything about long-terms safety of this, ask your LLMD
-there are probably accupressure points that you can massage for nausea, but I've never tried this.

Also, here are some web pages on herbal remedies for nausea- I haven't tried any of this personally as ginger works well for me, but I've heard a lot of these herbs recommended for nausea over the years:

The following link is to a cancer patient support page with a lot of info on nausea, addresses of companies that manufacture 'seabands', and a big list of carminative herbs that help with bloating and digestive upset (which some of us get with doxy).
Obviously, it's chemotherapy-specific, so what they have to say about conventional drugs may apply to a different condition than our doxy nausea. For example, ignore the part where they suggest steroids, you wouldn't want to take steroids with Lyme:

Thank you, Maria! This is great info.

I will try the ginger right away, as that's helped me with nausea that's not doxy-related. What a good idea.

Huge thanks to you for the links, and your thoughts on this!

Good luck. I just edited the post above to correct missing link to the chemotherapy nausea page.
