hi, I'm new at this. i was just diagnosed with acute lyme disease.good news they said im not chronic. the western bloc results. my doctor feels i've had it for a few months. was surprised and confused. my question is i'm scheduled for a total hip replacement on 9/3. surgeon said still okay for surgery. worried because i just started taking my doxycycline 100mg every 12 hours today. thought maybe i should put off surgery since my body is trying to fight off this infection. my hip is bone on bone so of course im always in pain anyway. since i started taking doxy started getting very bad headaches and stomach aches. also any good lyme doctors near dover, new hampshire for 2nd opinions. not getting the support home on this issue. thank you and God Bless, jane

welcome mike; glad you found us.

sorry, i could NOT read anything. please break up solid block post into short paragraphs for us NEURO lyme folks so we can comprehend and read.

instructions below.

Welcome; so glad you found us!! xox

Fyi: we have over 1000 viewers daily; 200 - 400 posting/replying so we all must manage our time well; so specific titles get our time/replies. NON-SPECIFIC ONES, I SOB, SCROLL ON BY!
*************************************************************

Also, please be VERY SPECIFIC in subject line what you will be discussing.

Example:

PLEASE show your positive, +/-, and IND numbers from both western blot IGG AND IGM blood tests; do it this way please!

IGM ... do same thing for IGG below IGM
*******************************************

18 +
41 +/-
78 IND

When you post or reply, please break up your solid, continuous block text [Smile]
welcome to the board! many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.

please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.

now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``THREE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.

if you are NOT a wordy person, you can do 2 or 3 total ok. do this for your entire post.

NOTE: you do NOT have to use "", just show the name of person you are responding to, and then type your comment.

IF you need to use "", PLEASE DELETE "BOLD" CODES so it's regular type text we read vs. the DARK, HARSH/PAINFUL BOLDING.

specifically, delete the first 4 characters of 2ND LINE of a ""

[QB] just delete these 4 characters, and BOLDING is GONE! my eyes will really appreciate that; it's one very bad side effect of my having lyme for 38.5 years!! xox

then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND

we thank you for helping us; [Wink] otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me. I'm also in the early stages of losing my eyesight from diabetes retinopathy. [Frown]

Jane, I hate to say this, but 100 mg of doxy/twice a day is not enough to get rid of Lyme. Most Lyme Literate MD's (LLMD's) treat us with 200 mg/twice daily for at least 8 weeks to be sure you get rid of it.

I know of many here who have had surgery while on abx, including me., Some have even had joint replacements. So it can be done.

The doctor will probably also have you on another abx while in surgery and afterward to prevent any infection from the surgery.

To find a LLMD near you go to the Seeking a Doctor Forum on this board and post your state in the title. I would definitely recommend a second opinion on this.

Welcome to Lymenet. [hi]

I can't read your post as it's just a sea of grey swirls. Others may also be able to better read it if you could break up the text with frequent white space.

As for surgery, the often use steroids. Steroids can make lyme blossom. So, you would need expert advice from a ILADS' trained LLMD.

If you are the right combination of abx for 48 hours prior to and for the entire length of time while on any steroids, that should help.

Again, be sure to get expert advice.

good luck.

Hi Jane-

You say that your doctor thinks you have
had lyme for a few months-

How long do You think you have had Lyme??

Like the others have said 100mg Doxi 2X aday
wont do much for you -
Doxi is effective but at a much higher dose -
400 to 600mg a day --

Make sure to stay away from Steroids -
They make Lyme much worse --

Read the Newbee links at top of page-
Dr B info is Easiest to understand --

Is your name Mike or Jane? --Jay--

Hi thank you for all your responses. My name is

Jane I have always used my husband's e.mail which

is why it is NavyMike. I postponed my surgery

because i felt i should treat my lyme disease

first.

I need a total hip replacement. Would you believe

they were going to take my blood as a donor for my

self. they said as long as i was feeling good.

Anyway does anyone know of a primary lyme doctor n

near dover, NH. Also one who accepts insurance.

as i see most of the naturopath doctors don't and

it can get very expensive as i have a large family

thank you and God Bless for any info.

No steroids whatsoever--this will ensure you go chronic.

But, really-- you absolutely need an LLMD (doc who follows the

guidelines of the ILADS, rather than the IDSA) , or there's about a

90% chance you'll end up chronic anyway.
