Have had frequent and severe headaches since being diagnosed with Lyme three years ago. For the past six months have nerve pain in my upper molar shooting up into my head. Dental problems ruled out.
Here's my question: Once again on antibiotics. Am going on week 6 of treatment and suddenly the headaches and pain are worse. When I was clearly having bad herxs the first three weeks, headaches were not as bad. Why would they suddenly become a herx symptom 6 weeks on abx????
Does this mean they are not Lyme related?
Thanks for your help!

They could be bart or babs related and the abx are not geared for them?
Where are your headaches located. Around the eyes and sinuses could be bart.

I was tested for co-infections a couple of times and tests were negative. Wouldn't I also have sweats and fever with the co-infections?

What antibiotic are you taking? Some can cause in increase in your intracranial pressure. The cyclines (doxy, mino, etc.) can raise your pressure.

Am on Ceftin/Zithromax. Headaches are all over my head but feel very sinus related much of the time. Most of the shooting pains are on my right side of my head accompanied by neck and shoulder pain.

i am on doxy and i'm experiencing some headaches. Mine are back of the head/all over but the one I've had today has lasted since the afternoon. I am personally wondering if this is just herx related. I guess if i wake up tomorrow without a headache, I'll know it was.
* I just re-started doxy after a week off, today was my third day back on it.

Clint, I think for you it's pretty clear it's a herx. For me though, this has been going on for three years. When I was in your position initially I believe I was not treated long enough. As my doctor says now - treat at least six weeks after all symptoms disappear. I stopped short as soon as I felt better. Big mistake.

The testing for coinfections is unreliable so they are a clincal diagnosis. I did not have fevers and only started getting night sweats after I started Mepron for babs.
Diagnosing coinfections can be tricky. It took me a while to figure out I had bart because all three of my tests were negative for it and I do not get burning feet. You can still have a coinfection and not get many of the symptoms of one.

Hi Pauline,
I get headaches too, but some of mine seem to be Herx related. I started using my Rife machine approx. 12 days ago & have definitely had herx from two sessions. Once over night, and once after 1/2 day + 1 night, I felt better.
Several times the back of my head, esp. base of skull felt like a huge gathering of bundled nerves were having a convention - hurt. Pain radiated to ears, neck, shoulders, brain, eyes, etc.
I've used Gabapentin just to get me through the night (brand name Neurontin) .
Maybe the antibiotic you are using could be changed to a different one to see if the headaches go away.
Question for you ~ Dental problems ~ Could the metal in your teeth be causing some reactions?
One time I could feel and taste every single silver/amalgam (sp) filling in my mouth and the gold pin which hold in my front false tooth. That happened from a B-Complex overdose.
It will take me years to do what Hulda Clark recommends regarding getting the metal out of my mouth.
Sure hope your severe headaches reduce or disappear soon.

Pauline,
I can't imagine having a headache for three years. Just the last 2 evenings I could not sleep as I had a headache pounding as I tried to go to bed. I've been up to 2:30 am, 2:00 am, and 1:00 am this week (I get up at 6am for work) just bc of the headaches.
If I were you... and you wanna kill any or all bugs, go for some Colloidal silver (mesosilver brand). It will kill whatever bacteria is causing your head aches and it will not kill the good. You should at least look into some research on it.

All I know of Colloidal Silver is "The Blue Man" on the Today show. Yikes. I will look into it though.
Will ask about co-infections again - thought they were sent to Iginex Lab in Ca. Aren't they pretty reliable?
Clint - yes, headaches are intolerable, awful. If I knew it was part of a herx I would get through them better, but after so much time I just don't know anymore. I had meningitis symptoms with fever when first diagnosed and it's been a rocky road since. You may want to get a prescription for Zomig or one of the other Triptans to get you through the headaches while herxing. Zomig has been my savior. If you take it with Alleve or Motrin, it is even more effective and I take 2.5 mgs which is the lowest dose possible. You can't take more than twice weekly though.

Don't associate the Blue Man with this product, please. Not to be mean, but that man is a spectacular idiot. Not to mention he's weird. He had no direction with the drug and was taking an unpure, homemade form. He wasn't in moderation. The idiot drank bottles per day with no caution (anything in exess is a problem!) and he wasnt even treating anything! What a weirdo.
Look about testimonials, Mesosilver/Lyme and coinfection treatment. I think it could cure you. It saved my mom's life from candida.

Thanks Clint, yes that man seemed to really go over the top with the stuff. He's lucky he had no signs of internal damage. Will definitely investigate using it. Can I buy from the health food store?
Posted by Clint31 (Member # 16420) on :
I got mine online. Very affordable. Some health stores will have it, but not sure if they'll have mesosilver, which according to some fine LLMDS, is the best one-stop shop to attacking lyme and co-infections. It hits everything.

What my LLMD gave me for the headaches was Diamox and Potassium.
Diamox is a diuretic and you have to supplement with Potassium while taking it.
I had pain and pressure in the base of my skull and neck and it would make me very, very ill.
Vicodin, Soma and ice packs helped too.
My headaches at that time were from encephalitis.
I still get headaches but now it's a more burning and stinging kind of thing.
Hope this helps!

what is the average dose of meso everyone is taking?

I started on 4 teaspoon per day about 3 weeks ago. Its made me herx I think in degrees, but not that one BOOM! herx where everything hits you. Some days I'll have headache, some day muscle ache, some day palps.

I seem to get headaches when I am in killing mode.

My 2 sons have pseudo-tumor cerebri. They have/had constant, unrelenting headaches since at least 1999.
PTC is also called intracranial hypertension. Some people can control it with meds such as Diamox. It is diagnosed when your opening pressure is high when you have a lumbar puncture. The only relief my kids got was from draining fluid when they had an LP.
My 17 year old had a LP shunt placed in April and my 22 year old had a VP shunt placed in May. Their headaches are still there but they are much better.
My kids were treated with antibiotics for Lyme & co-infections and nothing helped the headache.

Diamox has helped me tremendously with the meningitis/encephalitic head pain!
I, too, get pseudotumor cerebri. It can be quite serious, even causing permanent blindness if untreated.
Migraines (true ones) are also a lyme symptom for a lot of us, and migraine meds are a lifesaver for me in that regard.
Head/neck pain is absolutely the worst of all the symptoms I've had, and I've had most of the ones on the list....
Pab: So, so glad to hear the shunts have helped your sons. My heart breaks to think of the amount of pain they've endured.
Hope you all feel better soon!

The kind in the health food stores are not the best. They try to hide it by not putting it on the bottle, but they are NOT colloidal--they are 80% ionic.
Mesosilver is I believe 80% colloidal and 20% ionic. Homemade is ionic (the kind the blue man used).
The ionic type is missing an electron (negative ion).
When it goes into the stomach, there is hydrochloride, the chloride is a negative ion.
The chloride ion attaches to the missing ion and makes silver chloride which your body can't use and it leaves the body, so it's pretty much a waste of money.
