Just trying to get a feel to see if anyone has felt like Ceftin has helped them????

My LLMD is putting me on Ceftin along with Zithromax.

Can anyone tell me if the Ceftin has been successful and what symptoms the Ceftin has helped?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences. [Wink]

I was put on Ceftin/Zithromax also. After about three or four days had a major herx but pretty stable since then other than my usual headaches.

Too early to tell for me. I started it recently and quickly had a major herx, and have been feeling a bit better since them.

Pam Weintraub says in Cure Unknown that it cured her and Dr. B. That is good enough for me to give it some time. I got the most benefits from bicillin after seven months on it, so for me and probably most folks, improvement can be slow and gradual.

Got on it a week again. So far, so good. Definitely better now than a week ago.

I have a microscope, and ceftin in high doses with lower dose augmentin (for the clavic acid) works wonders.

PENNICLLINS AND CEFTINS ROCK LYME OUT.

Would you say Ceftin is more effective than Plaquenil JamesCase20?

The microscope can show some wonderful things. However, what happens under a microscope is not always what happens inside a body, with infections, etc.

The various pros and cons of all the abx are discussed here. It's great to see what a leading LLMD has to say while comparing other's experiences. This is a wonderful book.

This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, has a lot of good information:

Well--within the first 4 days it helped my knees quite a bit.

I'm hoping this is the end of my non-responsiveness to txment.

Any more ceftin stories? How long do you have to be on Ceftin for substantial improvement? I was on Doxy for 6 months before I moved to Ceftin. Progress has been slooow.

Does Ceftin help with mycoplasma or with babesia?

Anyone?

Thanks,
CherylSue

Thank you to everyone who responded thus far.

I too would like to know how long it took to see benefits using ceftin?

thanks for the book recomendation. I have not read that and plan on getting it.

What were the major symtoms that Ceftin seemed to help?

I'd be curious too. I have been depressed because after a month of treatment with Mepron and Zithromax, I have had no change.
My doc just started Ceftin as well and I took my first dose last night and again this morning, but no change. She said a lot
of her patients do not herx on a lot of abx but eventually get better so I am keeping fingers crossed.

Dr. S's book states Ceftin is for early stage Lyme and I have had it at least since last summer or fall. I am taking two tablets
2x a day. I don't know if they are 500 mg. (I think it says 500mg tabs on the bottle) - I guess I could be taking 2000 mg?

I don't eat sweets or refined foods so I am not worried about yeast infections.

I have had success with Omniceft (a more "advanced" cephlasporin) as long as it's used with other combos (+ macrolide + flagyl/tinni, etc.) I did Ceftin by itself for a few months at the beginning of my illness and it didn't do squat for me then.

Hi Richedie,

I will be curious to see how you do. perhaps we can compare notes???

I don't believe when Dr. Burascano used this treatment for himself he was in the early stages, yet I could be wrong on that account. Also this abx, was used for Pam Weintraub as outlined in her book "Cure Unknown"...Both are mentioned in "Cure Unknown"...

I hope this is correct, because I was infected 16 yrs. ago and only 3 yrs ago started showing symptoms. I am taking a break from the Flagyl and Zith combo and then starting the Ceftin w/ Zith next week.

I hope you feel better on the Ceftin. I will update you and let you know which symptoms this is helping. Also, I will let you know if I herx.

Good luck to you!

Dawn,

sorry the ceftin did not work alone.

I am hoping that because I will be using the ceftin and the zith that the combination will really kill the bugger.

Just wanted to update and say that since I have been on the ceftin I have had little herxing.

I have been sweating a lot, which I believe is a herx reaction. I hope this is a good sign.

Actually, I have felt really good the last two days. I wonder if the Ceftin can be working that quickly???? I am adding back the zith tonight.

Richedie,
Have you noticed any changes yet?
Hope you are doing well on the Ceftin...Keep me posted. [hi]

I have been on Ceftin and Azithromycin for two months. About four days after starting I got the worst herx in three years which lasted three weeks. Two months later I am feeling much better!

Posted by liesandmorelies (Member # 15323) on :

yeah Pauline!!!!

I will gladly accept a bad herx if it means that I will get better.

I am happy the ceftin is working for you.

For now, I am holding on for the ride.

Good Luck to you!

Elizabeth

we will have to keep comparing notes as we are on the same combo. [Wink]
