What exactly causes pain in the feet? Mine all started with a tearing sensation in the ball of the foot...then tingling and then pain all over....now just sore soles but not just the morning. They are sore pretty much whenever pressure is applied which includes wearing shoes, standing or walking. It is hell as you all know. What exactly is the mechanism behind the pain? If I stand long enough I'll start getting electric shock type sensations or stabs of pain in the soles. Sometimes after a walk they will tingle and almost seem like they are going numb. Orthotics help take pressure off when wearing shoes but believe it or not, the most comfortable is walking barefoot.

This can be related to lyme - or other TBD, especially bartonella, but it also can be from other things.
Feet are too important to treat by guess work. The "mechaism" behind foot pain can be any number of a million things. PLEASE see a good podiatrist. There may be things that only a foot specialist can help you with.
They can also refer you to a Physical Therapist who specializes in feet. I owe my life to a good podiatrist and a good PT.
Also - is your liver support tip-top? Is your lyme/TBD treatment adequate?
Excess toxins can cause foot pain. Still, a foot specialist should make an evaluation. Take the shoes - all of them - that you normally wear so that they can see how you walk in them.
Take your orthodics so they can be evaluated, too. Some on the market make matters worse. You may need custom-made inserts or just ultrasound treatment (ahhh!).

I have seen three podiatrists numerous times, MRIs, XRays - nothing!.....along with about 30 other doctors in the last year or so before being diagnosed with Lyme. As a resukt I have $500 orthotics and new shoes and sneakers each costing over $150 a pair, size 6E!
I saw a myofascial specialist that helped a tiny bit.
My question is more what is the mechanism behind a TBD that causes the pain? Never had pain in my feet for 37 years till all my symptoms started this past fall.
UN fortunately there is no way to know if it is excess toxins. Seems many people with a TBD have foot issues so I am assuming that is it.

90% of people here know will tell you it's bart or some kind of wacky co-infection. It could be... but it could just be lyme disease.
I had the worst foot arch pain in my left foot in the world. Especially when i'd straighten my left foot out. With doxy it went away (and 3 cycles of cipro)

Thanks again, does anyone know if it tends to be nerve pain? Muscle pain? Vascular pain? I can't tell what it is but it is mostly the soles of the feet through the day - like standing in a frying pain or as if my feet had been beaten with a bat! I want to try an anti-inflammatory or nerve pain meds, something.
Right now, we are mostly treating Babs with a touch of Lyme - Mepron, Azyth, and Ceftin. I wish I was on Bart treatment since we are going to Disney World next week - hellish walking.

rich,
If you're not allergic to bee stings, I'd recommend trying Venex ointment on your feet. The active ingredient in Venex is mellitin, which has been shown to be a potent killer of Bb spirochetes.
It did wonders for me, and I've used it just about everywhere on my body. At the LDA conference in SF one of the speakers from UC Irvine said that his research found that place that Bb was most concentrated was in the skin.
I think the pain is directly from spirochetes boring into our tissues.
Oh Gosh. I have the same problem and have started a post on this before too and got all sorts of reasons and idea and mostly people told me it was from the bacteria ... but it sure is annoying and hurts really bad. I sit on my bed with my feel down and put my laptop on my legs and I can not do it because it Hurts so badly and It is a weird weird sensation. I just started having this since starting Ketek and not had it in all the 8 years of being sick.. Which is peculiar to me.

Hi Rich,
At one time I spent $$$ on all kinds of sole inserts for heels off the internet and in the store, foot detox pads, creams, x-rays, all that stuff you mentioned.
Then my dad told me he saw something on TV, I did it and it worked. I hope it helps you.
Originally he said to use a mans tie or something like that and to sit in a chiar or side of bed with the tie at the bottom of your foot in the arch are. Hold the ends up like a strap and point toes up counting to 15 and holding the toes up 3 times a day. No more because it wouldn't help anymore. I guess the tie was suppose to support the foot? I don't know.
He said he saw it on a show where the ligiment of some kind in the back of the leg is responsible for the hell pain. Inflamation more than likley from the Lyme or co-infection. This stretches the ligiment.
He said what he watched some medical show and they said it would take approx 3 months of doing this to go away but in 4-6 weeks you would notice a difference.
I started doing this when I got into bed at night, doing the point the toes up for a count of 15 secs. I did it three itmes in a row.
I don't remember how many weeks it was before I noticed a difference but it worked. Allot sooner than I thought too.
I have not had the problem since then. I couldn't belive I went for 9 months or so in so much pain and spent so much money and this is all it took to fix it.
I hope it helps you, good luck.

Thanks Kathy,
I have done some similar things in stretching various muscles and ligaments of the leg and feet but never that exact position and stretch. It seems with what you are saying, the foot would be flat on the ground, correct? The only thing pointing up should be the toes?
Do you pull on the straps(tie) to apply pressure to the arch?
Thanks, Rich
PS - if anyone knows where to buy VENEX other than online, I would love to know! I will try some local stores and pharmacies.

Some days my feet hurt like I am walking barefoot and my bones are on the concrete.
Soles hurt too. It feels like all my regular shoes including my sneakers are not good anymore.
When I go shopping I am dying now because I can hardly walk on them for long periods anymore.
And I used to run 2 miles every day with no problems!!
Happy Thanksgiving ALL!
I think its Lyme or Bart.

EXACTLY! Feels like bones and a thin layer of skin. I hate it! Some days it barely bothers me, other days I limp. Always feels best with no shoes.
I HOPE these feel better with Lyme and Bart treatment, and my darn arm and hand! My wrist kills as well.
I wish I could find something for pain. I have Diclofinac(NSAID), Meloxycam and Neurontin - but none of them do much for pain. Posted by Kathy Boss (Member # 3062) on :
Hi Rich,
Your leg would be stretched out in front of you. The tie in the arch, the ends of the tie you would be holding would be by your thigh. Point your toes up and pull back as if you were trying to point your toes backwards to your knee.
I have no idea what the use of the tie is for. Maybe just for support holding the leg up?
I did the same thing lying down flat on my back or on my side in the bed. Just point your toes up and backwards as if towards your knees and hold for 15 secs. Relax for a few minutes then do it a seocnd time again holding for 15 secs. Relax do it a thrid time.

Richdie, sorry for not getting back sooner. No, Venex is not available at drug stores. You have to buy it online, either from the manufacturer, www.beevenom.com or at the other place where I ordered from: www.dancingbeeacres.com. Posted by richedie (Member # 14689) on :
Thanks, sounds like you are stretching the arch or the calf muscles.

my feet were my first symptoms and the still bother me.
at first they would turn all kinds of blue and red blotches. then came awful burning, like somebody had turned a blow torch on them.
now it's just the bottoms of my feet that burn and they really do hurt to walk.
i've seen i don't know how many doctors....nuttin...so it must be lyme...

My feet are still burning and hurting and since this has just started in the past two months I keep hoping it will just go away?? but no luck.. The only change I have made is the ABX in the last two months.. So i can not think of anything except the herx affect of toxins and the bacteria that the ketek is getting at?? I dont know.. They are killing me as we speak. i have all over FMS pain too so i just throw it in and cope and though I am adding detox baths and stuff and it helps for a few hours../
