Someone mentioned to me that if band 31 was highly positive it meant you had Lyme for a long time.

Also someone said that it could be because of the vaccine Lymerix I received.

Anyone know anything about this?

If you received a lyme vaccine, YES, your tests will be different. However, that does not mean that you might not have lyme anyway.

Many who had the vaccine still got lyme.

I hope others come along with specifics for you regarding this.

It's good that you mentioned that - it will help your doctor tremendously to know this.

I assume you are here because you are having symptoms.

You had to be healthy in order to get the vaccine.

Were you fine for a certain time after the vaccine? Then got a tick bite? When did symptoms develop?

Did you have any other postives on the Western Blot?

IgG or IgM or both?

Lab used?

Have you EVER had a bulls eye rash?

Tick attachment either before or after vaccine?

Yes, it could. At least 1,000 people sued the makers of the Lymerix vaccine because it GAVE them Lyme.

Band 31 and 34 can show up due to the vaccine. What other bands did you have on your WB?

My IGG 31 +/-, 41+

My IGM 31-, 41+

I never had the Lyme vaccine.

I had the lymerix vaccine and yes, I have band 31 positive. I also had other bands positive that were not from the vaccine.

I believe that I got lyme disease after the vaccine, not because of it. Although, if I had to do it over again, I would never have gotten that or any other vaccines for that matter (didn't know any better back then).

Did you get symptoms right after the vaccine? Do you have any other bands present?

I figured that because I had the vaccine, then got lyme disease, I was doomed. I have been in treatment now for 16 months and am so much better now, so you can definitely be helped.

I am seeking no less than a cure for this.

I got the vaccine after being bitten by 3 different ticks and supposedly being treated (with Doxy for 3 weeks each) to completion for each. IMO I was already sick when I got the vaccine.

I know that certain bands can show up positive if you've had the vaccine. Since I don't know myself which ones, I gotta agree with six- those sound right to me.

Also, and here's the thing- depending on which lab you use for testing, they might not even check those 2 bands because of a possibility that you might have had the vaccine, since the vaccine makes them come up positive.

The problem with this is that common sense dictates what they SHOULD do is simply ASK THE PATIENT if they've had the vaccine, which would tell them whether or not to include those bands when trying to determine if they are positive for lyme or not.

This is why you should use Igenex to test.
In your case, the vaccine will probably cause the bands six mentioned to come up positive.
