I was wondering if any of you are experiencing issues or have knowledge of lyme and how it affects the bladder.
My friend with Lyme is experiencing horrible bladder issues from pain, extreme urges to go and frequent urination. It is driving her absolutely crazy.
She is on her third type of antibiotic now for her Lyme treatment (nothing is giving her significant results yet) and they have had her on 2 other antibiotics for her bladder issues, though none of her tests show she has a bladder infection nor does she have any signs of blood.
Prosed (sp?) seems to help some days but we were wondering if anything helps eliminate this symptom.
The docs want to send her off for expensive invasive tests but she really does not want to go this route.

My bladder bothers me frequently with the same symptoms your friend has. My bladder will hurt, burn, and frequent urination.
I am currently on Doxy 200mg and I see my LLMD for the first time on the 16th. I am new to Lyme, as I have only been diagnosed for 1 month.

Diet may help her. Stay away from acidic foods, caffeine, etc.
Lyme treatment may eventually help the IC pain... it did for me, though I have flares occasionally.

Hi!
I have bladder issues like those, too. My LLMD said that it could be from Yeast or a Bladder Infection and she also recommended going to a urologist.
An ultrasound might show something.

frequent urination is currently the most bothersome of my son's symptoms. We think it is related to yeast overgrowth, as we see flare ups when he cheats on his diet.
We have a LLMD appointment on monday-maybe i'll have more info after that

The OTC product called Prelief will help a lot. She should take 2 tablets with anything she eats or drinks that typically irritates her bladder. It is a supplement product made by the same company who makes "Beano" for gas.
Also, she can take Tums for it, yes it works, but brainfog won't let me remember what is in it that does it.
What I use when I feel the bladder rage kicking up, very effective, is put about 1/4 tsp of baking soda in 8 oz of water. My endocrinologist and urologist separately gave me the same tip. It works pretty good and can be used 3x a day. Nothing totally eliminates it, but these coping options will help knock the rough edges off.
Also, very good is the supplement D-Mannose, which will even help manage infections. It can be taken daily for prevention and/or used to dose at first signs of symptoms. I didn't think it would work all that effectively for infection, but the two times I have used it, it worked.
D-Mannose can be ordered as loose powder or capsules. The powder is very fine and pleasant tasting and a bit cheaper if I recall correctly.
