Hi, i was just restarted on bicillin injections 3 times a week. I was on it twice a week from Feb07 to Nov 07 ( 9 months) My LLMD wanted me to restart due to some symptoms returning, he said for 3 to 4 months. Well i still have scar tissue from when i was on it for 9 months, i've just done my 4th shot this round. My butt cheeks where the shot goes in the upper outer quadrants on both sides are all lumpy. i usually apply heat after my shots and massage. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I may not be able to take it anymore, and i don't want that! Thanks

Sounds like you need to talk with your doctor about the lumps. Bicillin has to be injected deep within the muscle, it is not absorbed well in fatty tissue. I doubt that it would be absorbed well in scar/damaged tissue either.
Maybe you are not using a long enough needle? Are there other non lumpy areas that you should use instead? Trouble shoot with your doctor. Hopefully he/she can help you figure it out or change your antibiotic protocol to fit your needs.

Thanks Sammy, the needle itself is and inch and a half in length, so it's plenty long enough. The areas on both buttocks are pretty lumpy from the last time i was on bicillin, i do try to have my husband avoid those areas when giving me the shot, but the area itself where the injections are to be given is only so big and there are only so many spots, so i guess i'll have to have a chat with my doc. Anyone else have this issue? and what did you do about it?

I think the needle that my doctor used on me was longer. I can ask him next week. I never had any problems.

My bicillin came in vials which I attached to an injector; the needles seemed larger than the one you describe. It is injected into the gluteal muscle. Yes, there is scartissue, but frankly, that is the least of my concerns. I relocated to Florida last year and my present LLMD does not encourage Bicillin, even though it seemed to give me relief.
