I fell asleep and woke within 10 mins feeling like I couldn't breathe, like there was a pressure in my throat, and had weird waves of fear or anxiety or some kind of nervous sensation...

I eventually fell asleep, but after taking Doxy today, an hour later i feel it again. I also feel numbish and off balanced anda bit dizzy- usually I have vertigo...

I have been on Bactrim for 2 wks and Doxy for a month-200mgs.... herxed bad last week with swollen neck lymph nodes... but the past few days, I felt a little better except this...

any idea?

Hi Lauris,

This is a very common symptom of lyme which many of us experience.

Sometimes you can feel shortness of breath, (air hunger) heart beat accelerations, weird heart irregularities, chest anxiety which sometimes feels simlilar to what people experience with heart problems.

It is uncomfortable, and with treatment should/may subside.

Thanks for the info- so it's not actually anything hear related or anything I should be nervous about?

What can I do for it? It's sort of new for me.

Why exactly does it happen? From the bacteria in the brain??

Hi there. I used to get this all the time when I first started on meds, along with it, my throat used to spasm real bad. Sometimes I would try to hold my breath for a while and it seemed to calm my heart down. My llmd suggested COQ10 and to make sure I was taking enough magnesium. I know it's really scary, but it did go away after a while. I still get it ocasionally now but I know what it is so it doesn't scare me so much, just more annoying than anything else!
