Every time I start, or increase my Plaquenil, I get horrid headaches. Worse than my chronic daily headache.

Is this because it breaks the blood brain barrier and is attaching the ketes? That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. [bonk]

My husband isn't effected that way, but he gets a headache whenever he takes his daily doses of Nystatin - but they don't last long.

Are you on other abx? My understanding of Plaq is that is helps other drugs get through the BBB and penetrate better. Plus, I think that the Brorsons showed (in vitro) that plaq can kill intracellular borellia and be cyst buster.

My husband had a very rough time with Plaq, yet our daughter sailed through it without a hitch....hmmmmm. seems like everyone is a bit different.

Good question. I get headaches from it - can't decide if they are "lyme headaches" aka herx, or my body not liking the plaquenil.

Since starting it along with amoxicillin, my neck is clicking/cracking like crazy and the headaches are like prickers in my head, if that makes any sense.

I don't know what to think. Is it helping or is it just bothering me because it's a strong med.

I had to stop Thursday because the yeast is once again taking hold.

I had an increase in migraines from it and has to stop - went from 1 migraine every two years to 4 migraines in 6 weeks.

Plaquenil, helps to break down the acid barrier so that the antibiotics can penetrate better.
I never dealt with headaches, but everyone is different. What does your doctor say?

I'm also on Biaxin. My doctor doesn't say much. Just that it means that it's working. He doesn't go into the details.

I also sometimes have very strange dreams while on it. The other morning I woke up convinced that I needed to go "back to school shopping" for my daughter. She is 31!

It's funny how our brains work. Earlier that day I had the entire population of the elementary school in the basement of my office because they were having an evacuation drill and my building is their place to go. I'm thinking that having all those children around made me think I was a young parent again. I'd sure like to feel young again. [Smile]
