I saw a new LLMD today that prescribed nothing but Tetracycline 500 mg., one tablet 2X a day, and Plaquenil (an antimalarial) 200 mg, one tablet 2X a day.
Anything seem UNDER DOING IT here?

How can anyone answer this? Do you really expect someone here, with absolutely no information about you what-so-ever, considering this is your first post and you gave no history/symptoms/test results...etc to give you a better answer than a physician who took your entire history, obtained lab results, and examined you?
I'm not trying to be mean, but there could be hundreds of reasons for that treatment. Maybe he is waiting for lab results to come back. Maybe he will add more meds later. Why don't you ask him?

That's the problem, the doctor didn't examine me, didn't do a physical and has complete IGeneX Western Blot and Coinfection Bloodwork to go on. I never heard of tetracycline being enough to kick Lyme. And I already have a call into him for tomorrow, meanwhile I'm trying to get some feedback here.

My IGeneX Western Blot was positive from a tick bite 2 decades ago, and I had Bartonella Coinfection since you asked. I have almost every one of Burrascano's (posted as author not treating Dr.) symptoms.

I took Tetracycline alone for many, many months, and so did my husband. This was prescribed by a well known LLD. I do think our dose was higher than yours, though.

Yes, I have heard of this approach also, from a reputable LLMD.

My LLMD only has me on one abx and a yeast med. Thats it so far...
Depends on the Dr and the approach..

Doctors have different approaches, since so much about tickborne diseases is unknown, especially past the acute stage.
Sometimes docs will start out slow, too, in people who might otherwise have a very bad herx from lack of previous treatment, and resulting high germ load.
So, I think there is not necessarily a cut and dried answer to your question.

I think she did it this way, but when weaning off, added herbs (Chinese, maybe others), supplements, and exercise, nutritional/dietary regimen, and liberally sprinkled with grit and determination not to let the lyme win.

That is not an unreasonable form of treatment. My LLMD puts me on just tetracycline in the winter, and Biaxin and Plaquenil in the summer. And of course probiotics.

Hi there
I started with Tet also and really it was the best results I've ever had. Went off them and on Biaxin for the Winter and never got any better after that. That was almost 7 years ago so yes it's cool.

You said "the doctor didn't examine me"
Believe me, if you were there in the office, sometimes, that can be enough of an exam alone. The way you carry yourself, talk, respond . . . . My guess is that you were being assessed - and your questionnaire and history all counted in with that.
You said: "Tetracycline only?" but then you say you are also taking plaq. So - you have a combination.
You are taking something for the lyme (tetra) and for babesia (plaq.). That is good.
Also to consider is the effect of these on your body. It may be just enough now and it's no walk in the park.
Babesia needs to be addressed first before lyme treatment can become fine-tuned, but the tetra is covering that for now.
Mostly likely, this will be changed as treatment rotates, combinations change, etc.
Have you asked about the long-term plan or outlook? Ask if he addresses the cyst form and at what stage. As you say you've probably had this for 20 years, my guess is that you are starting with a measured dose so as not to herx strongly.
This is like unraveling layer upon layer.
I assume you are on a "lyme" diet and taking probiotics, fish oil, gluten-free diet, etc. This all with help tremendously.

This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, has a lot of good information:
- by Kenneth B. Singleton , MD; James A. Duke. Ph.D. (Foreword)
You can read more about it and see customer reviews.

My LLMD, the same as Tracy9's, also put me on Tetracycline only for several months, without any plaquenil, after i'd started 3 or 4 months of initial abx.
I had continuous herxes expressed as sleeping 16-18 hours a day for a month.
So my body obviously had all the herx it could deal with from the Tetracycline alone. I wouldn't have wanted anything more or stronger!
