Who here has tried this medication and what did you use it for? Did it help you at all? Just curious.

Isn't this drug for Bipolar?

Yes it is for bipolar and for seizures.
You might have a HUGE reaction to it!!!
Look closely at how it works.
Bb follows several pathways...one is carbon fixation. It begins with CO2 and H2O and the last step is *Na*-ATPase.
Also do a search here...this has been discussed.

Marnie, Just wondering....what do you mean by a "HUGE reaction?" Hypothetically I could be attributing something Lamictal is causing to the Lyme and co, so just curious. Thanks.
Lamictal has other uses too....I believe many people can benefit from it who are irrational or have mood swings. I believe it can be used in "treatment resistant depression" or people with bipolar "tendencies."
I take Lamictal. It has helped me a TON with irritability. My irritability and "short fuse" was so bad it affected my everyday functioning. My relationships were suffering a lot.
Emotionally I was "all over the map" so to speak before Lamictal. You may have headaches, etc the first couple weeks, but after that I had no side effects at all, that I could notice at least. It also helps with some depression, and anxiety, like a typical "antidepressant" would.
With other psychiatric drugs, I would have bothersome side effects, and they didn't even really work that well...but this was not the case with Lamictal.
I slowly built up to 200mg per day, but then after a few months my psychiatrist checked my blood levels and switched me down to 100mg.
Keep in mind a lot of these symptoms could be due to Bartonella. I don't technically meet the criteria for bipolar, but I am one of the people that benefits immensely from the drug.
I have been diagnosed with bartonella, but we are focusing on my babesia so I have still not been adequately treated for Bart. Maybe once I am treated for Bartonella I will be able to go off Lamictal, but in the mean time, it has pretty much been a lifesaver.
Insist on the real Lamictal, not the generic. I had a bad experience when my pharmacy slipped the generic in on me.

I was wondering, what kind of bad reaction to the generic Lamictal did you have?
Thanks, Susan

i am on a low dose of lamictal, in conjunction with other medications, including Lyrica.
My LLMD suggested it to deal with nerve pain and insimnia due to lyme and pain.
i am very sensitive to most drugs. But at relatively low doses, the medications, including the lamictal have dulled the pain and allowed me to sleep better.
No side effects that i have noticed.
Hope this helps...
