I started treatment last March (doxy 400mg, zithro 500, plaquenil 400). Early September, I switched meds to address bartonella (rifampin 600 + zithro 500). I'm pulsing rifampin: I take it 3 weeks/month.

I've had leg pain almost every day since the beginning of treatment, it's even worse than before treatment. Pain in bones, thigh muscles and knees. I thought I was herxing, but I don't know anymore. I mean, can one herx NON-STOP for months on end? And is leg pain more common with bartonella or borrelia?

The good thing is that a lot of my other symptoms have disappeared, which is fantastic, and my energy levels and stamina have increased by an order of magnitude.

I've had Lyme for over 10 years. Does that mean my herxing will last longer than someone who's been sick for 6 months? Does that mean also that it will take many years of treatment to go into remission?

Thanks in advance for your input,

Julie

yes

don't know .. could be Lyme since I don't have bart and my muscles hurt all the time (not as bad now since I've been treated)

at least 2 yrs (guessing)

PS... I herxed non-stop the first year and felt like death warmed over the second year. Took 4 yrs of abx to get me feeling well.

I had had Lyme 42 yrs when I was dxd.

Thank you for answering my questions, Lymetoo.

It reassures me to know that what I'm going through is "normal".

Sad, but true. I hated to tell you the truth....but the truth is "freedom."
