Janet Jackson is returning to her "Rock Witchu" tour and -- finally -- revealing the mystery illness that led her to cancel a string of concerts.

Following two weeks of scrapped shows, Jackson was scheduled to resume her tour Wednesday night at the Verizon Center in Washington after a bout of migraine-associated vertigo. She is being treated for the illness, which is characterized by dizziness, imbalance and other symptoms.

"She's a world-class entertainer and needs to be at the top of her game to give her fans the show they expect," Jackson's manager, Kenneth Crear, said in a statement. "She's feeling much better and is ready to hit the road again to finish the tour."

I do NOT mean to sound rude at all....but how come when someone has headaches, vertigo, or is fatigued - they could probably have Lyme? Did it say she had Lyme? Did I miss something?

Not everyone has Lyme, I believe other things can cause those other symptoms also. I don't have vertigo or horrible fatigue. Does that mean I don't have Lyme?

That's just MHO. [Smile]

It might sound wacky, but when you've been around the block and hear some neuro/headache stuff going on many of us do think lyme. Medical science has not come up with a definitive cause for migranes--so what's the cause.

I admit I said the same thing to my husband.........but I also work with a lot of special ed kids--autistic, emotionally disturbed, etc. and I am always thinking hmmmmm. If the kid that is on anxiety, antidepressant and adhd meds tells me about his excruciating heel pain one more time I might loose it.

I wondered the same thing when I read that article! This disease is so undiagnosed that I believe much of the population is suffering from it and doesn't know it!

I know those symptoms can be lyme and if it were me, I would certainly get a lyme test. Of course, she may not have it, but I would definitely consider it a possibility.

Migraines are also a symptom of thyroid problems too.

When my grand kids or any of my relatives complain of symptoms such as joint pain, dizziness fatigue etc.etc. The first thing that comes to mind is lyme as a possible (Not a probable cause as you state) Ruling out other causes is called a differential diagnosis.
Looks like this was done but I would still keep the red flag up for a time.

These were the major symptoms my kid had! Neurologist said that it was all due to an "atypical, sustained migraine". ENT doctor ruled out vestibular damage as the cause of the balance problems.

Went to an LLMD who sent blood work to Igenix. Results were positive for Babesia and "indicated" for Lyme.

I am astounded at how many people I've encountered in this past year who have Lyme or a relative with one of these tick-borne illnesses. I know more people in this category than people with diabetes or heart attacks.

Sounds like an epidemic to me. [bonk]

I think it is time that routine "Lyme" screening be instituted when a diagnosis gets to the point of "can't find anything else..therefore..it must be..."

Wishing Miss Jackson a speedy recovery! - Lymepool

LOL. I heard this story on the news earlier and I said "lyme" as soon as I heard dizzy and headaches... but I said it more in a joking manner... but who knows.... always a big possibility.

the symptoms that Ms. Jackson is suffering from might not indicate lyme, but they are the symptoms of CFS. many people who have CFS have Lyme.

I'm not saying that Ms. Jackson has Lyme, but I was just throwing out the possibility. I'm not hoping that she has lyme, but it would bring a lot of exposure to the disease.

We need more exposure out there.

People still don't know what we are going through, and how wide spread it is.

Maybe if Ms. Jackson had it, she could be a spokesperson for the disease.

I was thinking along these lines too.

look at the title of the subject. It asks the question, does she have lyme. I did not say that she did. I'm merely asking the question.

If you don't think so, then that's your opinion, I was merely throwing out the question.

Whenever I would run into people who are struggling with unknown neuro/muscular problems, I immediately think lyme now. Before I would think stuff like MS, migraine, fibro..but I lean towards lyme now that Ive got it.

I think it human nature to try to match up problems with answers, and even go so far as to use your own problems to answer other people problems.

After a while it gets very easy to blame everything on lyme...or Bush.. heh...

Ditto. Thought the same thing but I'm always posting about celebrities and Lyme and I didn't feel like getting in a debate.

I think Cher has Lyme, too. She officially has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (uh, ok). She's been cancelling concerts, too.

What the hell is going on and when will the madness stop?
