i'm iFA(+) for Bartonella also. But PCR (-). PCR based tests seem to suck huh?

Aetna insurance says I qualify for IV abx due to peripheral nerve damage seen on a nerve conductance test my pain doc gave me.

It showed inflammation and moderate damage to my peripheral nerves in upper and lower torso. Recommendation was: Steroids and physical therapy

I have extreme rage attacks, brain fog, blurry vision at times, bad vertigo, cluster headaches (Behind left eye. Trigeminal nerve complex.), and even sensitization of offensive smells.

So extreme that I've broken my hand twice, wrist twice etc...From fits of rage.

Will the IV rocephin hit the bartonella well if I take amox. and zithro. with it?

I noticed that high doses of amox. give me even stronger psych reactions (Crosses BBB easily?) than plaquenil, or anything else I've taken.

Do you have lyme disease? If not, taking rocephin for bart is probably not wise.

Yes. ..."Bartonella also." Should be clearer.

Aetna says if you have Lyme with PNS damage, meningitis w/ borrelia in CSF, encephalopathy/encephamyelitis etc... you qualify for IV's.--Heart prob's also.

Hi James,

I did a round of IV Rocephin. I don't ever recall seeing that rocephin hits bart at all.

The zith will hit bart somewhat according to some doc's...depends on who ya speak to. Anyways, none of the meds that you mentioned are first line tx for Bartonella.

Sorry about your rage attacks...I have had them too in the past....better now even though I have not done Bart tx, only Lyme.

Best,
Feelfit

Azithromycin has been used in conjunction with IM or IV ceftriaxone for the treatment of bacteremia caused by Bartonella quintana

You're probably better off going with IV Doxycycline with Levaquin or Rifampin (oral or IV), or IV Zithromax with Rifampin (oral or IV).

Some seem to think IV Vancomycin has effect on Bartonella too.

Dr. Burrascano has said IV Rocephin suppresses Bartonella infection, but does not eradicate it, so many times people are treated with IV Rocephin for a few months, feel better, stop treatment...and than if they relapse quickly, it is usually Bartonella causing the relapse, since Lyme is a slow-growing pathogen.

Best of luck to you.

I would do the roceph AND low dose augmentin AND gentimicin injections...the genta is cheap in india like 50 cents a day, then i would finish off with another 30 days of minocin or doxy and leveaquin and black pepper and paxil.
