OK so I had my first Bicillin shot wednesday, my butt still hurts but its not as bad as yesterday but my question is if I touch around the area where it was injected it feels a little hard is that normal?

It is normal. It is the medicine that hasn't dispersed. Mine always went away eventually. I never had any permanent lumps.
I think some people have said that they had permanent lumps though.
don't kow if this helps or not, but I sure hope so.
Rubbing the injection site and walking around after the injection usually helps with the lump.

Try gently massaging and applying heat to the area after injection.
It helps alot with the pain and is supposed to help with absorption.
I tend to rub/ massage the area when it is sore the day after also. Seems to make it feel better for some reason.
Also, try to inject the the medicine slower. I've noticed that when I try to really push it in it tends to escape the muscle seeping into the surrounding tissue (that is not where it belongs). When that happens I have a lump that squishes/ crackles when I rub the area. Kinda creepy!
The medicine is best absorbed deep in the muscle so make sure your needle is long enough.

My LLD says there is supposed to be a lump, that is the medicine that slowly gets absorbed over the next ten days or so.
I always get a lump and lately have been getting bruises too. The lumps that don't go away however are scar tissue, and those are not good. You cannot inject into those spots again.

Shot should be given after 15-30 min of taking out of fridge.
NEXT should should be given VERY VERY slow. 2-5 min is good as it allows the medicine to be absorbed.
We get a nurse that jabs us and runs. My butt hurts for days after. When my wife did it slowly it heart more getting the shot, but did not get a bruise or lump.
Read the instruction that come with it. They say shot should be slow admin...

That only applies to Bicillin as the Generic form is a powder that you mix with water so it does not need to be kept in the fridge, the good thing about the generic is that it posts and travels well as no refrigeration and its 1/10 of the price!!!!!
IM Bicillin in its liquid form can be given slowly although the Generic form needs to be given quickly as it falls out of suspension.
Yes IM Bicillin or Benzathine Penicillin form a pocket under the skin and it can hurt for a while until it disperses, as its a timed release product - Do you apply Emla cream before the injection to relax the muscle? if not try it and leave on for 50-60 minutes.

I used bicillin shots for 10 months and had lots of lumps while using it.
They all went completely away over time, after I stopped bicillin! Some lasted longer than others; I was afraid it was scar tissue. But it was not; my butt (upper outer quadrants) is as good as new again!

If you don't have someone to give you the bicillin shots I recommend finding a good gynecologist nurse. They are used to giving them for STD's and the nurse who gave me mine was very skilled.

Bicclin is a DEPOT type injection...it is SUPPOST top leave a lump...so the med slowly gets into the blood over days.

The lump and hardness is totally normal. Remember your injecting thick medicine into your muscle, of course it's going to be a lump! It will gradually go away over time. If it actually hurts, put heat on it. Bicillin is GREAT!!! Little pain and a few injections but it's great stuff and really easy to combine with other meds and much better than IV! I have been getting bicillin shots for 3 mos and have never had any lumps. They need to be injected slowly, at least 1 min., then gently massage the area to make sure the medicine disperses.

Umm I am pretty sure it is not how it works . The "long acting" effect is not because it is slowly dissipates from injection site. It is because the solution is made such way that is slowly metabolized by the body. For example being fat soluble helps that - as fat is slower metabolized

If you don't tense up the muscle while getting the shot it is pretty pain free.
Try exhaling when you get the shot goes in. Massage immediately after the shot.
I only get lumps if I don't massage it long enough afterwords. Post massage you could put an icepack on for a few minutes if necessary.
