Hi Folks,

Am only 1.5 months into abx and yeast is rearing it's ugly head... Not oral but on opposite end of the GI spectrum...

I have been VIGILANT with diet/probiotics etc. I increased probiotics thisweek hoping to end it. No such luck.

Since is the weekend should i get OTC diflucan? Help!!?!?

Has this happened to others? Did you have to stop abx or did you treat it and get better while on abx???

help!?!?

Thankx...

I should add - this is a yeast issue only women can get...

Ahh, well I know there are many OTC remedies to combat that type of yeast. Most of us on here have a more difficult situation with yeast in the gut that is mutated.

Consider your self lucky that you can go out and get something OTC.

Im not a doctor but I would recommend trying the OTC stuff. Its not the end of the world and again I might add that your lucky in a way.

Hi Bullrun,

There are so many posts about yeast and getting rid of it on this site.

You can search the word yeast - in subject- and there are TONS of advice.

Here a few basic IMPORTANT tips:

Diet/Detox/Fiber
Antifungals
Probiotics
Oral Care

A link with more yeast protocol:

And dont forget to ORAL mouth care as yeast begins on the tongue. Brush tongue regularly and then use an antiseptic mouthwash such as listerine. Then dip your toothbrush in bleach and rinse well. You can reinfect yourself because the yeast can live on your toothbrush.

For vaginal issues, besides over the counter products like Mycostatin. Also, vinegar douche is good because it neutralizes the area.

Good luck.

Try Nystatin and Diflucan and don't eat any sugar!

There's no such thing as an OTC Diflucan.

I agree with Wildcondor's tips....Nystatin is something I took 24/7 while on abx.

Check out the link "gem" gave you.

Also, do a search here for FuzzySlippers. She has a boric acid remedy for female yeast.

But you MUST follow the healthy diet or you will get this over and over and run the risk of getting systemic yeast as well. [see link above]

Thanks all...

Started oral diflucan and will see how it goes...

Am VIGILANT with diet (NO SUGAR or yeast or hardly any carbs and probiotics galore...)

Will keep at it ... [Smile]

What brand probiotic are you using?

I mix it up re: probiotics and take a bunch every day tween meals:

Xymogen Saccharomycin DF
Kyo Dophilus
PB8
Theralac

I pop em like candy these days... plus eat plain yogurt and tons of kefir...

Thx all...

So, does that mean if you do have thrush that eating and drinking will cause the yeast on your tounge to travel inside creating basically an endless cycle no matter how many antifungals/probiotics you take?

I do know that PB8 when compared to Theralac is pretty useless.

Another good one is Ultimate Flora ... you can get it really cheap over at Vitacost...

www.vitacost.com

Get the 50 billion.

Most yogurt and store-bought kefir contains a lot of SUGAR.
