Nurse should be on her way to do dressing change.

I just realized that I may have a problem.

I understand that some people get Antabuse reactions w/ Fagyl just by using alcohol containing lotions.

I took my last dose of Flagyl @ 8:30pm last night & I know you're not supposed to have any alcohol for 3 days after Flagyl, so I'm guessing absorbing it through the skin right now wouldn't be a good idea either.

I had been very careful (using gloves) to avoid touching the alcohol wipes, when running the infusions, but I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THE DRESSING CHANGE!!! [bonk]

Anyone have any ideas?

I was on IV Flagyl for C-Diff (3.5 weeks) and during that time I had 3 dressing changes, I was fine. Hopefully you will be too. Good luck!

Thanks JKM [Smile]

The deed is done, so I'm hoping for the best.

I took a shower right before she got here, with the dressing uncovered. It didn't loosen much, just a little around the edge.

She used some kind of adhesive remover that wasn't straight alcohol, but did contain it.

We've been using Betadine instead of the Chloraprep because the Chloraprep caused my skin to blister off.

There's no alcohol in the Betadine, so all-in-all there was very little used.

We'll see what happens. Hopefully, if I do have a reaction it won't be a big one.

I'm really glad to know that you were OK.
Thanks so much for posting! [kiss]

I'll ditto since this is so recent. I was on tindamax the entire time I was on IV and NEVER even thought about the alcohol during the dressing changes.

And, I never had a problem.

Thanks Allie! [Smile]

I seem to be fine too.

I'm glad I didn't need to be so worried about it.

I did end up sleeping all afternoon though. [Roll Eyes]

I really would not worry about THAT! They are talking about not drinking alcohol! An alcohol wipe isn't going to do anything to you! Esp. not on your skin! Don't worry so much!! [Smile]

I think maybe I need another round of Levaquin.
Somehow I didn't seem to worry about every little thing when I was on it.

It's too bad the effects didn't stick. [Frown]

I just did a course of Flagyl for the first time (during last 4 days of 3 mos Rocephin)& then started Bactrim, which I hadn't tried before.

Maybe I'll get lucky and something new will make a difference for me there too.

Lord knows I could use a break! [Roll Eyes]
