Just started bicillan shots. Feel pretty rugged, but it's do-able.

Can anyone tell me whether bicillan treats any of the co's? I know it is supposed to be pretty good for Lyme...

Also, what was your experience with bicillan?

Thanks,

It just treats the Lyme. My husband and I are both on Bicillin, and we have experienced some slow but sure improvement.

Unfortunately mine has been pretty minimal, more in the way of a couple good days popping up here and there. His seems to be more significant.

Overall we are still both pretty darned sick though.

I herxed all through treatment but when I did Bicillin injections with pulsed flagyl,

It was really HARD,

AT the same time, this is when my CD57 increased most noticeably,

Although it has never reached a normal range.

One of my symptoms has been burning just under my skin on my arms and legs. since my first bicillin injection that pain has quadrupled and now my knees and elbows hurt too. I had some pain in my right knee, now it is both and hurts to use stairs.

This must be herxing??? I worry that it might be something else like some kind of mineral/vitamin deficiency.
anyone?

My daughter will be starting bicillin soon. And I am wondering about whether it needs to be done in combination with other abx/drugs. In reading past posts, it seems that bicillin is usually not done alone.

Would any of you mind sharing your entire ptotocol - just the allopathic, no homeopathic or herbal? You can share that too, but I know that list can be long. Thanks.

Hi,

I had a great experience with bicillin. It treats lyme, I do not believe that it treats the co-infections.

It works well together with plaquenil and a macrolide, like biaxin or zith.

It took months for me to see the best progress with bicillin. PM me if you'd like information (made some room in the inbox!). Best wishes.

Bicillin is great and just works for Lyme it can give a prolonged herx and for me it brought my co infections out dramatically, so ensure you have dealt with them also.

Overall I still think it is one of the best Lyme Ab's

If you do the bicillin with flagyl, you are targeting the cysts to break open and then killing it with the bicillin. It's a difficult but effective combination. The flagyl was especially difficult for me and I could only do it for a little while.

Personally, i don't think it's realistic to eradicate all the cysts (if you went long undiagnosed) but taking care of some of them is a good idea.

My pain is getting so much worse and it makes me wonder if this is herxing?? The peripheral neuropathy as well as joint pain and swelling is so bad. This is much worse than any herxing pain I had when on Ketek and Flagyl.

Could it be anything else?

I pm'd you Vermont Lymie with thanks.

This is scaring me and makes me wonder if I should have my next shot on Monday. I sure can't see how some people get two shots a week, every week!

Thanks to all for replies. I'd name you all one by one but I'm not thinking all that clearly. So, know that everyone's advice was helpful.

I have herxed all week since my first bicillan shot. I figure that is a good sign of something working.

Also, after this first week of the Bicillan alot of the arthritis symptoms have improved. The catch is that my stomach burns and I'm nauseated all the time with no appetite. I'm also fairly weak.

Rianna, thank you for mentioning that you experienced a prolonged herx. I think that is what bicillan may do for me also. I also definitely feel the co's rearing their ugly heads.

Because I have been so sensitive to abx, my LLMD is having me go to Dr. Z next week to try herbs for the Babesia.

I worry that the herbs mixed with the Bicillan may downright kill me... but with everything relapsing/flaring, I guess it is time for some "fresh hell" (Dorothy Parker).

Happygranny, I'm no expert, but it sounds like you are having a tough herx. It is always scarey when it gets so bad that you can't tell if you are backsliding or else working towards improvement. Kind of like the proverbial "feels so good when I stop hitting my head against the wall!"

Seems like the concensus is that Bicillan is a slow but steady drug with consistent herxing and gradual improvement. Patience is a must... a wish I extend for all of us.

"God bless us one and all...",

Hail Vermonter,

Can't get into your PM box. Am I blocked? Was it something I said? was it my breath?

Best,

Hi Wiser,

I would NEVER block you!

Sorry, I deleted some posts, and then had some new ones come in........

I will delete more this weekend, and send a post to you when I do!

Go for the bicillin, and hang in there with it! The great thing about bicillin is that it works 24/7....

yours,
VL

I've been on Bicillin 4 weeks. The first week I felt oddly calm and more stable. By the second week, something was up. Fatigue came on strong and has lasted for a few weeks. Dr. B's guidelines mentions prolonged herxing with Bicillin.

Just have to stay in the game and hope that we can turn the corner eventually....

I did six full months on bicillin LA at a dose of 4.8 million units a week. It helped me tremendously.

I also did Mepron/Azithromyacin along with it.

At the Lyme Conference held here in San Francisco last week a Dr. H (LLMD), said if he only had one regimen to treat lyme it would be:

bicillin,plaquenil and biaxin.

Having been on the bicillin/biaxin I would agree.

Dr. H did a presentation with Dr. B (retired LLMD) and it was by far the best hour I spent at the whole conference.

Hmmmm; I did great also on Biaxin and Plaquenil, and the Bicillin is helping me also.

Interesting. Wondering if I can get my LLD to give me more Bicillin.

My llmd is Dr. B's former PA.
He started me right away with bicillin, 13 months ago, and I am still doing 3 shots per week.
He now also gives me penicillin pills, about 3000 mg per day, on my off days.
so I am getting penicillin a total of 5 days per week, with both injections and pills.
After my spec scan, my doc will reanylze which drugs to add(I did zith, levaquin, flagyl, and others throughout the year)
